Depends on the resolution you game at I think.

I'm having the same dilemma right now - I game at 1920 x 1080 and the lure of 2GB is strong but I just don't think I need it at my res..

OC are out of the 6950 OC Twin FrozR III anyway so I will probably go with either the msi 560ti or the GB soc.

As op doesn't want to overclock at all then the 6950 is the better of the two cards.

Imo you must be bonkers picking a 1GB over a 2Gb card, if the 560 had 2GB then it would be a harder choice. There are more games(slowly but surely) getting released using DX11 which can be memory intensive.

You can add more IQ in the control panel which can give current/older games a better look and the extra vram gives more headroom when applying higher AA/AF levels.

Have you thought about the sapphire flex:

For an extra £5 you get Dirt 3, and sapphires vapour chamber coolers are superbly quiet too!

:D:D:D

I thought the MSI cooler was still good? Im now swayed by the 6950 - Only thing is I think because the majority of my components are coming from external outlet I would have to get it from there, and there version doesnt come with dirt 3 so is it still worth it?

Also just read sapphires customer support is horrible - so prob will be going with msi.

First off you need to get rid of the competitors name, it's against the rules!

My brother rma'd a 4870 1Gb toxic to the same retailer you mentioned and got a new one back within a week, I think the bigger retailers do the testing themselves now.

The Msi cooler is good, the Sapphire one is probably quieter though, but as you are getting it elsewhere then I would just stick to the Msi one.

Oh sorry i didnt know - changed it now.
Will the 6950 be able to run BF3 smoothly once it releases?
I know the spec for the game hasnt come out, but what do you reckon?

I think it will run it smooth, but at what settings is anybody's guess.
BF3 devs have said that nothing currently can max it out, but the tank demo was reported as using a 580, whether that was in single/dual card mode who knows.

As it's an AMD 'Gaming Evolved' title, at a guess it may run better on AMD's hardware out of the box and should be less prone to needing driver updates to get it working properly(this is just my own assumption on BF3).

I'm also guessing that the extra vram will make a difference on what eye candy you will be able to use(no doubt HOCP will inform us on this).

Well will it look comparable to the xbox 360s graphics? (Im used to console gaming but going for pc now)

Comparable? I'm sorry I just fell off my seat there!:p

There will be no comparison m8, this game will show you the true power of the PC over consoles. Look for the PS3 version and compare it with the PC, the consoles are locked at 30fps and don't look anywhere near as good as the PC.

If you get a 6950(or 560), it will wipe the floor of the 360 without breaking a sweat.

Crysis DX 11 and high res pack is out next week, which is about 5 months after release. In no way do I think that it wasn't ready from the start, from a graphical point of view it was hobbled on the PC so that the console versions 'looked just as good' as the PC version.

Crytek more than anybody have the 'know how' when it comes to making graphically demanding games, but I imagine they were told to dumb down graphically the PC version as to not take sales away from the consoles.

It's just a pity there's not more devs willing to put even a little bit more effort into the PC versions.

Ha good to hear its just i have been a console gamer since forever so I find it hard to think that the graphics on the 360/ps3 could get any better - I guess im wrong.

How about the Zotac GeForce GTX 470 1280MB AMP Edition over the 6950?
