Here's the gig
Technology has now reached a level where people can make clouds rain (link below if you don't believe me).
In China they have always had a problem with water. All farmers want more of the stuff, to grow more crops.
A difficult concept this .. but the clouds that reach the centre of China have to come from the sea, so will inevitably end up flying over some 'by the coast' farmer's land, on it's travels to whereever it would rain .... (keeping up?)
Now here is the thing .. the farmers with land near(ish) the sea are using technology to MAKE the clouds rain over their land. Meaning bumper harvest (and payday) for them.
The farmers in-country therefore get few clouds over, therefore little rain, duffer crops, no payday (and, they are saying, potential starvation).
Now, there is serious talk from the inland farmers of what they are calling 'cloud wars'. Sounds like something from a sci-fi book, but they are threatening and sometimes undertaking physical violence to stop the 'by the coast' farmers 'stealing their clouds'. Physically forcing them using violence to not 'seed the clouds' as they pass over. And apparently they are arranging 'militias' to defend their 'clouds' on their travels! Mental or what!
So, here's the question -
1) Do you think clouds should be considered 'fair game' by the farmers by the coast? After all they are flying over THEIR land ... so making them rain is 100% fine, at that point in time they are 'owned' by the 'by the coast' farmers (as they are claiming)?
2) Do you think anyone by general principle should be able to do what they want with these clouds including forcing them to rain .. same as the lack of control on 'air'?? - so again, no problem - it's ridiculous to legislate against what to do with clouds ..?
or 3) Clouds should be some kind of bizarre 'protected species'?
or 4) You don't understand what the hell I'm on about?
In short:
Which guys are the 'baddies' here, the 'inland' or the 'coast' farmers? Which 'side' are you on? I really can't decide ...
