Wrong RAM, no dual channel.

I recently took advantage of OCUK's memory sale and added another 4gb to my system (sig). When I opened up my case I noticed that the existing sticks (also from OCUK) said they were 2/3 of a triple channel set. Having added the new dual channel set (otherwise identical) I get 8192MB of RAM but CPU-Z does not register it as being dual channel. I am probably past the point where I can RMA the original sticks so I hope it will be an easy fix that I haven't thought of. Any ideas?

That's not a problem - they do this a lot (break up tri-sets to make dual), they're still essentially matching pairs so it's nothing to worry about.

You certainly don't need to rma the sticks (unless they're faulty of course).

Are you running the latest version of CPUz?

If you've filled all four slots then the memory will be operating in dual channel mode.

CPU-Z doesn't report the RAM in my P67 board as operating in dual channel mode even though the RAM is in the correct slots.

...means you haven't got a problem.

If you're still concerned about stabilty run prime95 (blend test) for a few hours or a few cycles of memtest.

The system has been solid as rock, barring a few problems with not booting properly each time. So long as it will be running in dual channel, I have nothing to worry about. Thanks guys!

If it's not a voltage or a clock problem - try disabling 'quick post' or enable 'hdd delay/staggered spin' as this can sometimes resolve booting issues.
