Parliament defies government, bans wild animals in circuses

This could get complicated...

good. old fashioned and cruel in some circumstances. hopefully this wll echo around the world, starting with china.

I think China has bigger issues with animal cruelty than the circus. They skin dogs alive, bury diseased animals alive and are just generally cruel and barbaric. Same with most of asia and main land europe.

Dude that stuff happens, it may not be as wide spread as some people make out but the fur farms over there can be pretty brutal.

I'm not denying that it happens.

Merely pointing out that a couple nations isn't at fault for someone's attitude towards animals. :o

And it happens here too and everywhere else.

Have looked into it a bit more, there are very few UK circuses using wild animals, I'd imagine because they're already under certain licencing for posession of the animals, and the general public opinion of them. The conservative recommendation was for stricter guidelines and legislation specifically for circuses and wild animals as entertainment.

It affects roughly 46 animals in the UK, including lions, tigers, zebras and camels, but I would imagine the vast majority are camels.

Still good though, as said I already thought it was illegal.

And didn't the UK have to cull off a lot of animals due to foot and mouth too?

It's a shame that it happened but it's what had to happen.

Wasn't it Japan or Taiwan that buried a load of animals alive due to a foot and mouth outbreak? Not China?

It's a common practice in Asia apparently but the video was from South Korea.

And didn't the UK have to cull off a lot of animals due to foot and mouth too?

It's a shame that it happened but it's what had to happen.

We didn't dig a large pit, fill it with perfectly living animals and back fill with bulldozers.

Diseased animals that could have infected a lot more livestock.

It was a prevention method. Much like the A-bomb... (facetious)
