Suggest a PSU...

Hey all,

Built a computer earlier this year and coming to realise that I haven't really bought the best PSU for it. Below is my spec and would appreciate people's thoughts on which PSU would be better suited.

(bear in mind i wish to crossfire gfx's at some point)

NZXT Hades case
AMD Phenom 2 x6 1090T
Asus Crossfire Formula IV
ATI Gigabyte 6870
64gb Kingston SSD
2 x 4GB DDR3 - 1333 G-Skill Ripjaws
being powered by a OCZ Stealthxstream 2 600w
usual fans and DVD drive.

An 800w Corsair? (or higher) modular if you can afford.

nothing wrong with the OCZ, but if you want the best out there, then go for something by XFX. they seem to have the best priced relabeled seasonic units right now.

either of the 750W ones will do you perfectly

550w could easily do two 6870's, so your OCZ is fine. The Stealthxstream II's are pretty good.

the OP would have to use a couple of molex to 6 pin adapters though

Corsair, XFX, seasonic, etc all pretty much the same just choose one to suit your budget

Personally I prefer and find Coolermaster better than the brands suggested.

Dont mean to hi-jack your thread but does anyone know if the XFX Black Edition 750w and 850w PSU have the same " Over Current/Voltage/Power Protection, Under Voltage Protection and Short Circuit - Protection provide maximum component safety " as listed on Corsairs PSU's ?

yes. They are Seasonic units and have all the gubbins.
