620w Antec PSU - SLI?

Would a 620w Anted PSU support SLI, or would I need a 750w PSU - I would be using 2 GTX 560 Tis, if it isn't I'm not sure whether to just wait for a year or two until a new card comes out, or whether to buy a new PSU and hope that 2 GTX 560 Tis will carry me through for another few years instead of upgrading to a new card.

It should be fine. I run a pair of Radeon 6870s from a 650W Antec and it copes without any problem.

a 620w PSU would be to low for SLI 560's........
plus the Antec PSU 620w don't have the connectors needed to power two 560ti cards..

I have heard 750w or more is ideal.

So I am planning to go for an 850w XFX.

Two 6870 draw about 100watts less power then two 560Ti

So your comparing your two cards that draw much less power and have a higher wattage PSU

620W would be able to run 560ti SLI but you might be reducing the lifespan of the PSU by running it so close to max wattage.

750W would be better.

(cant find a review that has tested power consumption of these cards in SLI. i know there is one out there, but i just cant find the damned thing

Nvidia list the maximum power requirements of the card as 170W. so the cards should use no more than 340W in SLI. add a 125W processor and that gets up to 465W. you still have a few fans, a motherboard, some RAM, some HDDs and some DVD's, so personally i would get a bigger PSU

Right, I will probably get an 850 XFX just to make sure then. I'm not sure whether it will even be worth upgrading past the two 560 Tis as is the huge decline in PC gaming and I'm not a big fan of maxing all settings out anyway.

The 620W Antec has a max output on its 12v rail of 576W. NVidia rates the 560Ti at 170W max (which is actually fairly accurate from what I've seen). So a pair of 560s will leave 236W for the processor and other devices.

That's more than enough. To repeat: the 620W Antec will run a pair of 560TIs fine.

And the chances are his cpu is also overclocked..

A 620watt psu would not be enough..
