Looking for gigs right now, so feedback on the songs (good or bad) is welcome, gives us time to fix it before we do end up 'live'.

Also, if you guys know of any decent venues knocking about where we would fit in then give me a shout.

I disagree with the vocals being dire. I think the singers voice is quite fitting. I like the sound all round. Which is a surprise as usually I check these types of threads and think "crap".

I think what they are trying to say is: Imagine those songs with Rob Halford or Ozzy singing them and you'll understand what they're on about.
The singer sounds like he's just talking his way through the song with no emotion and he needs to be an octave higher.

cheers for the feedback guys, the vocals have come in in dicussion for a 'redo' over the summer, although we might hold off on that to work on the songs a little more before doing a proper recording once we have a few gigs under our belts later in the year.

the singer is new to this, so im kinda letting him get on with it for now on first versions of the songs - the feedback helps me so i can help him work on the vocals/lyrics later.

glad people are at least liking some degree of the music though :p

This. He sounds very flat but on 'The Bride' he sounds a bit better like he's getting into it more.

Like the sound you have so far, reminds me of Soundgarden for some reason.

Yes there's something up with the vocals. I'm not sure whether it's delivery or it needs bettter processing, maybe more compression?

I've recently started recording my own vocals and to be honest, they sound ****, so I'm experimenting a bit more with delivery and processing now until I find something that works and sits in my mixes well. I hope it's not just a case of being rubbish!

I do liek the sound you have, although it feels like there's something intangible missing that could tie it all together, may well be down to the vocalist.

But yeah, dmpoole hit it on the head. You sing a bit, don't you Poole? Got any vox tips?

If they had me in the studio I'd be at least 1 octave higher but if he isn't capable of that now he can stay in the James Hetfield register but put a bit more meat in.
He sounds like he doesn't care and he's doing it because somebody made him.
He has got the main talent which is holding a tune so he needs to work on giving that little bit of strain in the vocals to gruff it up a bit.
I have to do nearly 2 hours of Brian Johnson and Robert Plant type vocals so doing Metallica is dead easy and doesn't put any strain on me.
The two biggest tips I can give is:
1) Stick an extra strong Halls Mentholyptus in your gob while you're singing because it anaesthetises the throat. I don't do any gigs without them unless somebody else is driving and I decide to get rat faced on Newcastle Brown.
2) If you're really serious get some in-ear monitors.

cheers for that dmpoole,
I think He would struggle going up an octave, although with practice he might be able to push it up. I think a little encouragment on thursday along the lines of 'sing it like you mean it' might get the right response.

glad i put it up here now, bit of honest feedback lets me know whats right/wrong so i can fix it.
