CB Radio. What's the appeal?

Breaker on the side... breaker on the side...?

10-4 good buddy crank your handle Roger Roger...

ahh CB Radio - Loved it.. I had a great big Dipole on the side of my house. I think the legal limit was 4watts for FM?? Anyway, I modified it be about 40 Watts iirc.. can't rememebr now.. It used to obliterate everyones TV :D

I even had an annoying roger-bleeps

I had a recorder mike that would record what somebody said and then when you pressed the button it transmitted it. Use to annoy the hell out of people and had truckers threatening me :D

"What's your 10-20" and give me a "10-13 on the M1 North" were my most used

Back in the 80's I used to go with my Dad who is a trucker and the chatter was comedy gold. It was especially great when stuck in huge traffic jams on the motorway and all the truckers would be on there at the same time spotting totty in the cars and passing on the information. Awesome

Yeah that used to be great listening in. You would get "look at the red bmw, she has a short skirt and you can see her knickers":D

Old man had a superstar 360, that was some rig one of the most popular in the us iirc, and with good reason, it pushed the most power for a standard rig, and you had 120 channels with all sorts of knobs and bits to play with fnerk.

Though he has a ham radio he hardly uses it, now the emergency services have switched to the tetra system.

I used to go to regular meets, one guy had a 3000w burner.

Needless to say he upset most of the community, he would bleed out folk that were miles away :D

O yes - CW McCall Convoy! That's the stuff :)

Yellow Goblin was the handle here. I had a list recently where I found some of the local callsigns. Sadly the usage of CBs locally seemed to die inside 2 years after I first used them.

I wonder how many people are

1) Going to get theirs down from the loft
2) Going to buy a cheap one off the bay

if you do show us some vids :):)

Tempted to put it on the list but i have no idea what the differences are with different equipment/aerials, and i have no money anyway :D

I had an Amstrad 901 and a thunderpole 3 on my shed. When I started driving in 1990 or so it was good having a CB in the days before affordable mobile phones.

Nice stalker .. had a few modded one in the past . Loved the sigma 4 but neighbours and locals never . used to cause terrible splatter and tvi . finaly moved to a sirio 2012 and 6 element beam which caused a lot less hassle .

Yea,used to have it up on the top of a two story set of flats where parents used to live, looked like crystal palace from a distance :D
Had a superstar 360 and a cobra 148 gtl dx too,but the reception on the stalker was way better than both of them.
