I viewed the above today with 54k on the clock in v.good condition.

I trawled through the service history etc as well as giving it a good look over and have a few questions I'm sure some of you could answer quite easily.

The service history is:

11,013 miles

Oil
Micro Filter
Brakes

40,991

Oil
Rear Brakes
Micro Filter
Vehicle Check
Brake Fluid

Next service is due in February 2012. We had a look through the onboard computer and everything is showing as green and 'ok'. 8000 miles left on the brakes etc, filters okay, oil is fine etc.

I thought perhaps it should have had a service around 25kish? or is this the norm for BMW's?

I couldn't find much in the way of a tool kit/jack/warning triangle etc in the boot, even under the boot floor, though there was a larger space which was empty. What should be in there? if anything?

Is there any major work or services that would be coming up I should be aware of?

Thanks,

BennyC

Also if any body can recommend a replacement for the Bridgestone Forenza, the rears are low. I was thinking PS3's but read they wear quite quickly so don't want to be shelling out again soon.

Driving will mostly be plain and boring with the occasional spirited blasts. Looking for mostly long life and decent grip in the wet and dry, ride isn't so much an issue.

Provided tyres are replaced in pairs would it matter a great deal running different sets at the front and back?

Managing 30,000 miles without an oil change is suspicious, as is two services in approaching 6 years.

I had thoughts this.

I've read they can go up to 20k between services, I thought one at 11k was a little early and that then a 30k gap was quite large. The chap had said he took it in for a service but as the on board computer was showing everything was fine that they sent him on his way.

It was a lease or fleet car, I can't remember which but seems to have been kept up to speed apart from the long stint between services.

Could be mistake when it was written? It could have actually been at 21k.

Why not speak to BMW to verify the service?

21k would be a lot more viable for oil and brakes.

Good shout, I have the dealership details they were serviced at so I will ring them and check today. Hopefully it will be reassuring.

I also need to discuss the comprehensive warranty with them too.

Thanks for the help.
