Hi. I listed a item recently and ebay sent me a message saying its a violation of something or the other - I didn't pay attention but misread it and assumed the product had be removed from listing. So I was going to relist it later. Then I get a email saying my item has sold and it's gone for 65% of it's actual value! I re-read the email and it says it has been taken off the 'catalogue view' basically meaning that when people use the drop down menus or whatever to search it won't show up so people won't find it! Only way they'd find it is if they happen to search for that specific product in the title and I know when I buy from ebay I just use the categories.

Now the bloody thing has sold for the fraction of the price is there anyway I can back out of this deal and relist it and edit the description?

So basically, you didn't read the emails eBay sent you about the listing telling you there was a violation, and then didn't monitor the auction at all.

Tbh, you suck, you deserve to lose out.

If you want to pull out now you'll get negative feedback, but will have deserved it :p

you're nice.

Well with eBay (it's ****) I always get bloody violation emails about people contacting me outside of ebay and loads of crap when listing and they have always delisted my item (they took my item off once as someone selling the exact same item told ebay I was offering them the item outside of ebay, they then went on to buy my relisted item then leave me negative feedback without paying saying I never sent, then they quit ebay and my feedback was restored). All I read was violoation and seen removed a quick span of it and assumed the same. My fault I know. Anything can be done?

no, suck it up. Take negative feedback or a loss

i hate this, ive been selling some things, and you always have to put this catalogue thing in, i had the exact thing happen to as you except mine was a buy it now, so no one bought it!

so many hoops

Just say something along the lines of "I've discovered the item is damaged and no longer works, so isn't available for purchase".

I'm not really sure why so many people are going on about "taking the negative feedback", it seems like none of these actually use ebay or know much about it.

You can easily back out of it and cancel the transaction, getting your fees back as well.

Why not message them and tell them the truth, you never know they may understand and give you positive feedback. Honesty is the best policy.

I dont understand, did you list it as an auction? if so then why didnt you put a reserve price on it to get what you wanted thats the risk you take if you do it auction style... if it was BIN i can't see how it would have been sold for less than you put in the BIN price

Probably looking to take the loss :( 151 100% feedback don't want to mess it up. Lesson learnt I guess.

For what it's worth the percentage rating is only calculated over the last 6 months or something.

And if it went for a low price then you should have started with a higher price or used buy it now or best offer.

I think the problem here is that its visibility has been greatly reduced, meaning a lot less people than usual would have came across it.
