Hi

What midrange mb is best for 2500k?

Don't need Crossfire/SLI but will overclock the cpu.

Like the look of the new Asus Bios.

Suggestions please?

id give the asus amiss been reading a lot of people had problems with there boards, seems like giga and msi are doing the best boards at the mo.
But each to there own i suppose, i picked the msi gd65 for mine and think its a great board so far.

Watching this thread as am in the same boat as op got everthing but my mobo.

And i also am looking at a mid range board that will hit 4.2/5 with not much work.

So its msi or giga now its just the model and chipset hmm i like the look of the asrock board above

anyone?

Sorry to hijack.

Personally, I stick to Gigabyte or MSI myself. As over the years all I've read are bad things about ASUS with regards to returns and there RMA service.

But Gigabyte, MSI ASUS and Asrock are all good manufactures. And the quality will be good across all four. Just be prepared to pull teeth with an ASUS board if anything goes wrong within there warranty.

And any mid range board will get you to 4.4 or 4.5 on a 2500k. With low to mid range voltage on the core.

Plus if i rember right MSI now give 3 year warranty and you can deal direct with OCuk now, don't have to send back direct to MSI :)
I may be wrong thou but im sure i read it here some where.

I still think the 2nd and 3rd years are direct with MSI.

Gigabyte have the best warranty in my experience but you do pay a bit extra.

The MSI P67A-GD53 is excellent value if you don't need too many 6Gbps ports etc.

P67 Sabertooth is nice with its 5 year warranty and unique look. It is one of the few not so badly hit by the Asus issues.

You should say how much you wish to pay really it would help people give advise.

Happy to pay up to £150 but less would be good as £150 would be the very top of my budget.

Will pair it with the 2500K and 4GB Corsair RAM in a NZXT Beta Evo case. System drive is an OCZ Agility 60GB ssd.

Should I be looking at Z68 boards as they have the newer chipset ?
