What winds you up most when you're driving?

Tosspot in a beemer kept beeping me at a roundabout for taking me time.

I was in an LDV maxus with 3 friggin heavy pallets, im not going anywhere quick!!!

Thing that ****** me off are:

People who don't signal
People using phone as they pull out in front of me
Bus drivers who don't turn there ******* indicators off
Horses on main roads
Old folk (or anyone) who run red lights (this happened a few weeks back, old guy driving was just staring ahead and went straight through a red light, never had a clue what he had done, just drove off down the road)

Probably loads more, i am out today so may have to add to this list by the time i get back :D

Tailgaters, and people that don't use all the lanes of the motorway.

People who are in an excessive rush and drive dangerously - just chill Winston, me slowing down for road bumps and pedestrians won't make you late.

People who take an age to react to a gap in traffic or when the lights change - in London it can be the difference to going somewhere and waiting for minutes.

I try hard not to let myself get wound up anymore, if somone wants to be and drive like an arse, I let them. As long as I'm not taken out as part of the collateral damage that is likely to happen,.

Hi, and of course all you guys can drive from A to B, as you're all so perfect, without ever making a mistake.

Pretty much agree with all of this, especially the patience bit.

I had an interesting driving experience in Iceland last weekend. We went over for a long weekend and hired a 4WD to do the golden circle tour by ourselves.

Now I know the traffic density undoubtedly has something to do with, but Icelanders are the most considerate and patient drivers I've ever met. No one is in a rush, amazingly even on deserted roads cars were sticking to the speed limit, and they have no speed cameras and I never saw a single police vehicle in 4 days anywhere. In Rekjavic, as a pedestrian waiting to cross a road, cars will generally just stop and let you across....and no one gets annoyed at this!

I was talking to the guy at the hire car place about it, as I wanted to know if pedestrians had right of way and he just said that no, its just that Icelanders try to be as considerate to other people as possible. How nice - I told him never to visit the UK as he was likely to get mowed down!

As an aside, the driving was awesome on the gravel roads, even in a crappy Hyundai Tuscon. Managed to make quite a few interesting detours that had me worried about my insurance excess!

I hate it when impatient people edge out half way across the road and block traffic. I had some idiot in a Discovery edge out half way across a 60mph road just expecting people in both directions to stop and let him go! He didn't even acknowledge that I was there until I beeped by horn. He responded by sticking two fingers up.

Got the whole thing on cam. :D

That is the WORST place to do that as well. As I'm sure you know there's been a few fatalities over the years. A girl I went to primary school with was killed in a car crash there at 18 :(

Just found the news article : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/3253094.stm

EDIT: WTF, seems they didn't crash there. I was SURE that is where it was! Either way, that place is dangerous.

Bit of a resurrection.

I've been getting really annoyed by people who don't speed up on slip roads coming onto motorways.
They will sit at30-40 and then join the motorway! THEN they speed up to the same speed as traffic.

Today, on the A1 there were 3 lanes. On the inside lane there were some men doing work so had the big flashing arrow to move to the middle lane.
Pretty much every driver moved over in advance, and traffic flowed normally. But one idiot turned in right at the end causing everyone to press their brakes. A bit of foward planning would have been useful!

People who pull out right in front of you causing you to slow down, then drive significantly below the speed limit.

People who join a clear motorway at less than 60MPH.

Middle lane morons and general poor lane discipline.

When you flash people to let them out or something and they take ages to react, causing you to slow down.

People who can't keep to a steady speed on the motorway so you end up constantly overtaking each other when driving with cruise control on.

People who drive slowly round corners and fast on the straights, you're all over them when you get to a bend, but it's hard to overtake them.

I agree with most but the last point I have to disagree...isn't that what you should do? Slow into a corner, and fast out?

Unless they corner every corner at 10mph or something.

This annoys me the most, correctly labled as a two lane round about at every junction, with a dedicated left lane apart from this junction that lacks any road markings. yes I mean u could say the council have done a **** poor job on designing and marking this but driving on it is pretty obvious. yet everyone uses the left lane to go straight on so the person in the middle lane gets crushed between them and the anyone in the 3rd lane.

its done so frequently that even google has it on camera, the arrows Ive marked are how the rest of the roundabout is marked.

This is very similar to a place near me here in Manchester, as you come off Kingsway. The left lane is for LEFT TURNS ONLY, the middle lane allows you to also turn left or go straight on, and the far right lane is straight onto the roundabout. I have lost count of the number of times I have been in the middle lane and turning left, and someone to the left of me cuts across to go right, but I am so use to it now that I am always cautious when on there but it baffles me how many times it has happened. The roads are all clearly marked yet people totally ignore it.:mad:

Not so much an annoyance but wry amusement..

On the 101 into L.A. it's about 6 lanes wide and reasonable traffic - saw a car in front make a total of 24 lane changes/under & overtakes most of which were in the smallest of gaps causing the car behind to hit the brakes. As I stuck it on cruise control at 55mph it was pretty entertaining when I took the next exit and was behind him at the lights :p

Of course, it also highlights how ridiculous it is over here that you can have 6 lanes all travelling at the same speed of 55-65mph because there is no such thing as 'lane discipline' but I find rather than rail against it it's far easier to just join the sheep, pick a lane and stick it on cruise :p

So many times I've had people in the far left lane cut me up and go right, without even a glance over. Absolute lunatics.
