So, I am 1 week away from my current insurance with Churchill coming to an end (have not told them yet I am leaving), I am looking to switch insurance provider.

Yesterday a lady down the road reversed into my car, she has accept blame for this and I have contacted Churchill.

How do I stand with this? Even if I tell Churchill that I do not wish to renew my policy will they still process this claim as I very much doubt it will all be resolved and car fully repaired within the next week.

Staying with Churchill isn't really a option as they have come out 20% more expensive than last year and around 35% more than quotes I have from other providers.

Thanks

Yes, you were insured with Churchill at the time of the accident, they will have to deal with the claim.

Whether or not you renew isn't relevant.

I am still occasionally talking to footman james who are still trying to resovle my claim from 2009...

Okay, I am just waiting to hear from the lady hopefully tomorrow if we are going to settle outside of insurance. Sounds like I need to start the ball rolling ASAP before it expires (have raised the claim with them), just need to follow up with getting the courtesy car etc sorted if we are not settling outside.

Thanks guys :0)

It depends if it's contested in any way, even if she has already accepted the blame, she can change her mind or there can be other complications. You'll use Churchill to cover your legal costs if this happens (assuming that's part of your cover).

You're claiming off her insurance so shouldn't be a problem.

This.

Churchill need only be informed of the accident. Don't have them pursue it.

Phone up her insurance, explain the situation and they will deal with it.

edit - judging by the above post it's too late for that now

Question on that, my insurance are asking me to pay my excess until they validate my claim with her insurance... Don't sound right to me...or is it?
I'd be rather reluctant to hand over any money until I have something in writing that says I am getting it all back.

They will also take away your NCB until it is resolved. I would look at using a 3rd party claim company to resolve this such as Help Hire.

1) As stated above you were insured with Chirchill at the time of the accident so they will cover it regardless of whether you renew.
2) Yes it's notrmal for them to deduct the excess from the payout until it is confirmed as the other parties fault.
3) Until resolved you will have lost your no claims bonus (unless it is protected under your policy) and so your renewal will be more expensive until the claim is fully resolved. Once it is confirmed as the other drivers fault then you should be able to get proof of that and then a rebate on the new insurance.
4) You now have an accident on your record (regardless of who is at fault) which will probably put your insurance up slightly anyway.
