Wish me luck guys and gals - wifey's first day back 'in the office' since maternity leave began 6 months ago. I'm going it alone. AAArrghhhh!

How many other chaps here are looking after their babies' whilst the wife/partner goes out to work?

I've been a stay-at-home-dad since my 22 month-old was 3 months! :D Hard, hard work. I also have to work from home and do all the lady-chores :( Basically, three full-time jobs!

You'll be fine.

:smirk:

Nah, we have done it the traditional way. Girlfriend has looked after both our kids, and shortly she should be able to return to work with our three year old now in pre-school.

I tell you what, obviously our lives have changed, but I really respect single parents now. It's so difficult isn't it, although I'm sure you get used to the chaos.

I'm doing a degree with the open uni at the same time, (or trying to!) which is more or less a full-time job in itself, but I had to give up my job a while back.

"argh I've got to look after my child and do three jobs in total but there's always time to tell GD first! Argh!"

Glad to see you've got your priorities in order, I'd be exactly the same :D

I've been looking after my three girls since the 3rd one popped out 4 years ago, It's hard work sometimes. Looking after one baby you should be fine as it'll sleep all day and poo a bit.

Back to work for me in September, all my girls will be in full time school :(

Yup, having a kid changes you like you won't believe. I don't know how 16 year-olds do it, tbh!

The good thing about babies is that they like routines so you can make your days less hectic by making one and sticking to it roughly. Cram your studies into nap times and evenings. Once they start sleeping through the night things get SO MUCH BETTER!!!

I have a rare day off today - hence my lurking around GD :D

Lol. That will keep me extra busy then eh?

I was rather hoping he would sleep when I got in from taking the wife to work, but alas, no. He would rather do an extremely dirty nappy for me, whilst smiling. Awww bugger.

What you got planned for his/her dinner?

Yep, we are a day ahead with the feeds etc. One thing we've learnt, you have to be organised.

He has started his solids already, slightly early we know, at 5 months, but he's a big boy and needs the extra. He's got a puree for lunch, followed by a generous helping of milk.

Here's a couple of pics so you can see who I'm talking about here.

Your information is wrong.

I have two boys.

EDIT: Those pics look awesome. :D

I remember when my eldest was in his high chair looking at me like that! :D

Almost as if he is saying "WHY U STOP FEEDING ME?"

It's you losing your marbles I'd be more worried about :D
Make sure you get out and get away with your mates, or you're gonna go wrong.

Currently I work my 5 days in 4 and have all three kids on a Wednesday - it's a doddle. usually end up going to a play barn or the park and they run themselves ragged so that's normally followed by an hours kip where I get the a bit of housework done. I love cooking so it's nice to have the tea ready for the wife when she comes home.

We're emigrating to Canada in November at which point I'll be a house husband - looking forward to it. Eldest boy will be in school (4 1/2) - youngest boy is just over 3 and little girl is 10 months old.

Moving to Squamish so hoping for lots of time to get the MTB out and snown=board - Whistler is only 45 mins away :-)

I heard boys are way easier than girls - sleep a lot and way less fussy. I want a boy next please!

I wouldn't know! I do know that Maxi will sleep for 12 hours through the night however. Which is fab for us. But he needs LOTS of entertaining whilst he is awake! He's quite energetic already. Imagine what it'll be like when he's 2??!?? Arrrghh!
