ok, so fitted my 2500k last night and installed a few games. really good benchmarks, all smooth with no glitches.
run fifa 2011 is really stuttery so set everything to minimum, still the same.
tried f1 2010 and again, although better, it did have a lap or 2 where it was just juddery. whats going wrong? surely my system should cope with these games? maybe its the new ATI drivers? a
any ideas welcome.

Could be those games don't like crossfire? Try turning CF off and see how it goes, if the problem persists try removing the drivers and installing 11.5 and see if that fixes the problem.

they worked fine on my X2 555 setup. but obvs i have done a fresh install so i installed the latest drivers. this is whats making me think its them, but im pretty sure i updated to them on my old system.

I can't see the processor doing this so the Drivers definately look suspect. Try using driver sweeper and installing 11.5 drivers.

ok will give that a go tonight.
are there any settings in CCC i shouldnt have turned on (like tripple buffering) or should my system handle most of them?

you installed the latest cap profile?

yeh thats all installed too :(
will try some other games tonight, just a bit dissapointing.
the GTAIV benchmark with EVERYTHING maxed @ 1920x1080 was really smooth for most of it, was 1 or 2 secs of stuttering, but nothing like what i get when playing fifa11 or f1 2010  and all other benchmarks indicate it should be capable of running things ok. and like i said, it worked on the old mobo/cpu.
i have however gone from raid0 to single hdd, could this cause it?

would fraps or msi ab record what the fps were like at the times of stuttering?
if so, would this then help me find the cause, or will anything make the fps drop? what i mean is, if its a hard drive loadtime thats causing it, would the fps drop or is that only if its a graphics card error?

I would say so. If the hardrive can't load the data quick enough then your going to get a not of sputtering. It's dependent on the game tho.

try with older drivers and if no luck try with 1 graphics card...if either of them work you know its drivers/graphics card related

ok that didnt fix it, lasted for about 20mins on fifa and then came back.
i have tried 11.4 drivers, no CF and reinstalling the games.
fifa is stuttery from the off, f1 2010 about 5-7laps into a race.
the only thing i can think of is a fresh windows install now :(
could it be lucid virtu? its not set to do anything in games.

I currently use 11.5 hotfix , these seem to be the best for CFX with CAP4 I believe. I am familiar with degrading performance over CFX and newer drivers can be a NIGHTMARE when playing games you are used to ,since every little drop in performance is very noticeable

its not little drops, this is the problem, it makes the games unplayable :(

right click on the game launch icon and select run in windows compatibility mode.
