Right folks. I'm not one who posts in Motor section... More like to read everyone's posts lol.

Anyway's i'm after a new car. Don't have the biggest budget. Budget £3.5K Max!
Been driving a Nissan Micra for a long while. And tbh im bored of driving it. Need a bigger hatchback.

So i have been looking at Mazda3 1.6 TS/TS2, Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec/Ghia and Nissan Almera 1.5 SE

Out of the three which one would you guys recommend? Has to be a 5 door has we have a little one.
So micra needs to go. Gona put it up for sale sometime today or tomorrow. Dosn't help with this new insurence law.

Thanks.:)

I drive an 05 Mazda 3 ts2, old man drives an 09 Focus 2.0 tdi or something along those lines, I also learnt to drive in a 1.6 Focus. Picked the Mazda up for a little over 4k in December, so you should have no problem finding a tidy one for your budget at about the same age I guess.

The Mazda has loads more room inside compared to the Focus, which was a big surprise. The engine isn't the fastest, but if your looking at this car I would imagine your not looking for that anyway. It'll certainly be a better drive and nicer place to be compared to the Micra anyway. I looked at both the Mazda and different Foci and found the Mazda cheaper to insure, getting about 30 mpg which isn't the best either.

If you had a choice of spec, the TS2 is definitely worth holding out for over the TS, which is pretty basic.

I got a Mazda3 1.6TS for my Sister a few years back.

It's not particularly economical and we had to replace the entire sump when it rusted through (On a 5 year old car!) last year. But other than that it's been fine. It is horribly generic, mind, and the interior is not particularly nice. I think the Focus Mk2 is the better car.

It is, however, errily silent when stopped at the lights. Lexus style silent. You cannot tell the engine is running. It's absolutely lovely.

I'd rank them from best to worse like this

Focus mk2 zetec/ghia
Mazda3
Focus mk1 zetec/ghia
.
.
.
Nissan almera

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind.

Bah, i see the almera at the bottom of the pile. Few peeps have said the same thing about the Almera lol.

And yea i don't know how to multi qoute. so sorry for that.

I have a Focus Mk2 1.6 Zetec. I'm happy with it. It's not the fastest car in the world, but then again none of the three is.

Yes that's understandable. As i havn't got a big budget. Not really bothered with performence. As long it's all good to run in the long run etc. Focus is catching my eyes. Gona check Trader out and see whats availabe,

Sorry for the bump.

But what ya all reckon of Honda Civics? I forgot about them. I know they are reliable and that. Like the 1.4i SE or 1.6 I-VTEC?
