Need to replace the bonnet of the mrs 206. She parked behind some kind of cement lorry and some substance (presumably cement or such) has dried on. The lorry was gone when she came back to the car and didn't think to remove it all day yesterday  Had an guy look at it and he reckons it's damaged the paint so the whole lot will need stripped and repainted. £100 sound right?

The bonnet wasn't the best before this, small ding and plenty of chips. Ive found a replacement from a scrappy in good nick in the right colour for £35 cash.

Do I attempt to fit it myself or take it to someone who knows better? :p My mate says bonnets can be a pain to get right

I've not replaced one before but surely on a mass-produced car like that it'd just be a case of undoing a few bolts and swap over?

Worth seeing if you can beg/borrow a Haynes manual from somewhere? (like a fellow OcUK'er with a scanner?)

Scribe around the existing bolts so you know how the bonnet is aligned, take the old one off the fit then new part using the scribe marks.

The 'hard' part will be getting it to align with the shut lines, but it's deffo a job you can do at home, but i'd be wanting a helper.

Also if you hash up the fitting and you close the bonnet you might have a issues trying to get it to release again, good luck!

This man speaks the truth. Should easily be doable with a socket set and some help.

LOL I'll get herself to help :) Pics hopefully on Sunday :p

Thanks for the tips!

I'll check the haynes for anything 206-specific this evening if no one else has done it by then.

I'm happier knee deep in Cat5e and switching equipment than under the bonnet. I'll have a reccy tonight
