As title really.

Im looking for inspiration. I fancy a tattoo on my arm sometime in the next year, from Shoulder to elbow.

Ive got the idea to have some comic cells, Potentially telling a short story in them or even just one large cell (i think they call them cells?). Know any that would look good?

Alternatively I fancy something like Alice in Wonderland or a Roy Lichtenstein artwork.

Thanks in advance if anyone thinks of anything.

They are horrific. Why would you want to go around looking like a walking comic book?

Seems kinda original, and Ive always liked comic artwork. I love tattoos on both ends of the Spectrum, Black/grey and Vibrant colours. Comics have the versatility to work in both ways I think.

Its better than Tribal stuff, and Nu Skool stuff is becoming quite common too. I want something a little more unique.

i like.

maybe try coming up with your own concepts for a comic, or even mimicking another comic but with your own drawings?

If my life had been more exciting up to now Id have liked to have put memorable moments down, maybe like a work in progress. Could be added to over time.

Putting it onto overclockers puts the ideas in peoples heads, ill probably turn up to an OCUK meet one day to see everyone sporting the same idea lol :D

Many (good) tattoo parlours may balk at giving you a half sleeve if you have no other tattoos.

You should also consider getting this :

I don't even know.

Ugh, tattoos are so tasteless. If you like the pictures so much, get a nice print of them and hang them on your wall, not draw them all over your skin.

in your opinion, which I don't think the op asked for. Problem with these threads, the anti-tattoo lot all seem to come out

hedge, personally I would lean more towards getting just comic style tats than actual cells. Main reason being, doing square cells on an arm would be a real pita to get straight, it will also limit you to the size of the image you have inside, and the smaller the image the less detail it can have!

Wait up, wait up! Do you mean to tell me that it's my opinion?

Hang on, I still don't understand. The last post of mine, was my "opinion"? Thank you so very much for enlightening me to the fact that it was my opinion, I will forever be indebted to you kind sir...

For some one who knows so much about opinions, you don't seem to understand that just because it's not what you want to hear, it's somehow bad.

This is public forum, you do understand that, right? If you post a thread, you've gotta expect a whole range of responses.

But no, I agree, I don't think Hedge personally asked me for my opinion, but as I've already pointed out, this is a forum if you didn't already know.

A straight translation of a comic book cell doesn't look that good to me as a sleeve.

Personally I would go for a comic-book interpretation of your ideas that you want in a tattoo, done in Roy Lichtenstein-like way. I would leave the artist to run with your ideas, pictures, etc. I would recommend a reputable place in your area dealing with high quality work. Some walk-in places are full of s***ty artists that won't do your tattoo justice.

I went to a place that did only custom artwork, The Family Business in Exmouth Markets, London (http://www.thefamilybusinesstattoo.com) .... the books on the table were more artist portfolios and you could choose your artist based on their styles, etc.

Cheers for the more useful posts. The point about square cells is a good one I hadn't realised.

As for what it looks like as a pensioner, well I think keeping my mind and my health will be my priority then, not worrying about what others think of it. Live for the moment not 50 years down the line.

I won't be cutting about town in a vest at 70 , nor will I be worrying that betty down the bingo might not appreciate spiderman on my arm.

I think a Comic book or Roy Lichtenstein tattoo could actually be quite cool - in moderation.

The two pics you've provided are way over the top in my opinion, despite being decently rendered they look ridiculous.

However, I think a smaller rendition could actually look pretty decent. I'd advise planning a design which starts small and can then be added to and enhanced if you choose to do so later on.

Granted, it's your decision, but an entire upper arm to the extent of the pictures you've provided is something you could strongly regret at 35 or 40, let alone 60.

.

I like it, ignore the fuddy duddys. I appreciate constructive comments good or bad but when the high and mighty brigade come spouting their unwanted banal opinions it gets a bit tedious.
So yeah, do what you want, obviously some people are too worried about what others think about them. Also, no regrets, it's such a overused statement "you'll regret that when you're older".

Most tattoo artist will be happy to help out with designs. If you give them a starting point you're almost certain to be given something amazing as the end restult :)
