If so, ProTip - When you are not towing anything TAKE IT OFF. Then when you commute to work in your tow enabled trailer-less 4x4 and reverse into a space you don't stuff it into the front of peoples cars, like mine, while I am sitting in it.

That or learn how, perhaps, your 123819281928foot tow bar hanging off the back increases the overall length of your vehicle, you know - That's a distinct possibility when you put it on.

No. Because I have a post 1997 license, I cannot tow anything larger than a matchbox without paying the government £130 and a days long course. Despite the fact that an 80 year old woman who cannot even see over the steering wheel is allowed to.

Can't get one for my car.

You should have B licence, so can tow up to a 750kg trailer?

Why take it off as it works the other way round quite nicely. I had a chap bump into the back of me at some lights once, my car was fine his bumper and number plate were cracked.

The 2 ocassions ive managed to have a very low speed bump (when people have started to go and changed their mind), both times they had a ****ing towbar on. would've just bounced with no damage if they didnt :(

two people parked within a foot either end of my old car both with toebars, I couldnt car less and just forced my way out bouncing off there tow bar and the corners of their bumpers. I got without a sratch not that a really cared driving my rover 200. :D both cars where visbly rocking lol.

In theory you can actually tow a significantly larger trailer than 750kg with the right towing vehicle:

The net result is that new drivers (from 1st Jan 1997) will only be allowed to drive and tow the following combinations:

Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (category B) with a 750kg trailer (4.25 tonnes total MAM).
Category B vehicles with larger trailers i.e. > 750kg, provided that the combined MAM does not exceed 3.5 tonnes and the gross MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle. To be able to tow combinations outside this ruling requires the passing of an additional test.

As I understand it, for example you could if you had a car with an unladen weight of 1.5t and a MAM of 1.9t tow a trailer with a MAM of up to 1.5t

eg Total MAM = 1.9 (car) + 1.4t (trailer) = 3.3t which is less than the 3.5 maximum

and Trailer MAM of 1.4t is less than the Unladen weight of the car (1.5t)

When I get in small spaces I usually edge backwards at about 0.000001MPH until the car behind stops me.

Just absolutely wow. And then he says he's glad somebody who does the same doesn't live near him!
