Swap chickens with job center and government staff and i'll apply right away!

My local JC is on strike, they have skeleton staff in they are still open but anything that requires desk staff isnt available.

I had 3 weeks on the dole about 3 years ago after being made redundant, and only because my mortgage protection required me to be on it.

I had some idiot kicking off at me the first week after he perved on the wife, 2 mins later he was my best mate. it really does attract some nut jobs. I have no doubt that security guards are needed in such places.

2nd week I went in and overheard a conversation between an employee and a 30 stone guy who had been out of work for over a year now which mean he had to do something that I can't remember.

3rd week I went back and sat down at the desk, only to be greeted by that 30 stone guy! yep, that's correct! The guy who could find work for himself was going to find me a job.

I know they've also taken on our friends daughter who was unemployed for 14 months as well.

I hate the job center and i hate the government for nearly destroying my mum's life!, I also hate them for pulling the disability work scheme and putting thousands of disabled back out in limbo.

Do you hate all the people who took the pee with absurd claims that forced the government to revamp and tighten up the system?

Not that I'm not sorry that a legitimate claim has been caught in the tightening up, mind you.

lolarknor.

Job centres are a big waste of time, I can kind of see why though. Imagine having to deal with scum all day, every day, who have no intention of ever getting work, speak openly about their drug taking, come in drunk, and just generally be unpleasant. It would be soul destroying and I'd imagine ever the most willing and helpful person would quickly crumble and be unable to keep helping all day every day.

All the advisors do is check you've wrote down three things each week in your jobseekers diary. You're in and out within 2 minutes of sitting down.

The guards (or whatever they are) 99% of the time are just stood there, checking off names at the reception or checking to see if you have a job seekers card/sign on book as you pass them to go up to the second/third floor to sign on.

It's hardly a back breaking job...boring as hell..but not back breaking. But then again i've not been there when/if they've had undesirable folks in being violent, so they might have some nasty stuff to deal with.

2 minutes if you're lucky.
Usually wait times for me, even if I turn up 15 minutes early. They seem to have some sort of write to do around the job searching, pointless exercise?

If I'm 2 minutes late, I get scoffed at by some fat woman. :D

I haven't seen any mad incidents, must happen on days I don't sign on.
I can see some people losing their cool with some of the workers at my jobcentre, they can be patronising. Had one say "no wonder you can't get a job, they can't read your hand writing", I write with classic joined up handwriting as I my handwriting isn't very neat, which I just left it since I didn't want to kick up a fuss.

LMAO! Just wow... To be fair they probably do needs the security guards, I've just never seen them in action. They just come across as a poor mans chauffeur :p

I need to go send off a bunch of generic applications tonight anyway, got some 'appointment' tomorrow afternoon which I think basically means I've got a slightly longer winded signing-on procedure to look forward to.
I got moaned at last time (despite telling them I was preparing for an interview which I botched anyway :() for not sending off enough applications.

How do you know he doesnt want to work, just because he is fat?

That kind of prejudice really gets on my ****.

well from the sounds of it they were out of work for so long the job centre forced them into working at the job centre.
i dont knoew who long the bloke was out of work but the girl out of work for 14months? !?!?!?!?! you are telling me she couldnt find a job in that amount of time?

btw thhose security guards at job centres are useless i was in one a few years ago with the missus and she was at the counter asking some questions when some guy who looked like he wanted his dole money so he could score a fix started hurling abuse at her i told him that was my missus and to take a seat , he pulls a screwdriver out of his rucksack and starts rushing over towards me... i just stood there preparing to grab a chair and swing it at him if he got to close but he backed down as soon as he realised i wasnt going to do a runner.

i informed the security guard who was outside in the hallway and he didnt even do anything just carried on standing where he was....

That's a bit unfair, you know nothing about them, their circumstances etc.
Why aren't you in MacD's flipping burgers? You can't force someone work, and at the same time, it's the catch 22 situation of you need to be on JSA to avoid being asked to pay Council Tax.

Hate the Job Centre and all the condescending pricks that work there, I know that they have to deal with scum but to be fair a large amount of people that adorn their establishment are genuine people that are transitioning between jobs, it can't be hard to look at the computer screen and realise that a particular candidate has only been sighing on for a short amount of time and has paid his/her stamp.

I've personally been spoken down to in the Job Centre on a few occasions that I've tried to uses it's facilities and that was while I was working full time in a job that I had held for more than a decade, they just assume everyone is scum basically and then expect you to respect their authority.

Had some bad experiences with the Job Centre just after I left school.
I could have done their job better than them, and with a nicer manner as well.

I was told one time that my signature wasn't accepted as it didn't contain my full name. (First name + last name initial) and I wouldn't get dole money until I made a new signature.
Bit of a joke most of the people I had to deal with and hope to never deal with them again.
