6950 1gb or 2gb or 560 ti?

can get a VTX3D 6950 1gb for about £165, a 2gb costs about 200. The ti is around 170-180.

Upgrading from a 5770. I was leaning towards the 6950 1gb but am concerned about its size as I have a small case and apparantly the 560 ti is quite a bit smaller?

I would consider the more expensive 2gb 6950 (preferably one I could flash to a 6970) however I am not convinced that the extra 1gb of VRAM really makes that much of a tangible difference now or in the near future- although I may be misinformed.

Hoping that somebody who knows a bit more about these can shed some light onto it as I am looking to make a purchase this week! Thanks.

I'm debating this also. I got the 560 Ti but I am DSRing it and will be getting a 6950 2GB.

There is very little difference in performance in a lot of games. But, as moothead said more and more games are using more than 1GB of vram. The 560 Ti overclocks a lot, but the 6950 will overclock to similar levels. The 2GB 'future proofs' your system and will be a very good back up card in the future when the next generation comes out.

Get that is my advice, don't worry about going into a 6970 as it is unlikely that you can now, and the difference is minimal anyway so just stick with OCing and you will be fine with the 6950 2GB.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys :D

That card is capable of unlocking to a 6970 though isnt it based on what people are saying in the comments?

The other major concern of mine which has not been addressed yet is the size of the card. How big is it compared to a 5770?

If you can afford a card with more than 1GB then go for it (and I recommend 6950 2GB which is the best bang for the buck). Rumours suggest that the GTX560 Ti 1GB will drop price soon.

As I stated in an earlier post, the HIS card is on another websit enot overclockers- I would post a link but I believe we are not allowed to do that.

It is a brand new 2gb HIS 6950 for £182 delivered. I am asking whether there will be any discernable difference between this and the sapphie card that is on offer on overclockers as I am leaning towards the HIS due to price.

The only difference being that the sapphire will probably(guessing) produce less noise while gaming, and have have lower temps. Note that if It's the 2gb His card with the cooler in the middle, I don't think they can be flashed.

If temps/noise are not an issue, get the cheapest.

I am concerned that the 6950 will not fit in my case. Are all 6950's the same length? What is the length of the card as the details on various websites are confusing- I just want a clear answer.

Am I correct in saying the 560 ti is significantly smaller?

I would like to get a 2gb 6950- that is what I want to buy, however space is now my main concern and it may push me to a 560 ti.

problem is the pc was bought from mesh and the description they gave is simply "piano black case w/550w psu" so no specifics. Its pretty small though.

The 6950 would have to go underneath the HDD cage by the looks of things, is this normal? would no doubt be fiddly but may be possible.

Also, is the 560ti smaller?
