whats are you thought's on this PSU?

hi,

one of my m8's is selling his psu it's only 5weeks olds not much use really.
it is a Coolmaster Silent Pro Gold 1200W Modular, he only wants £170 for it.
Is it worth it adn is it a good psu for sli 580? and for powering my rig?.

More than enough for sli. But how much does he want for it? If you can get it for a good price then why not buy it? Always good to have some spare paarts lying around!

I did say how much he wants for it, £170.

I find it's best to have an overkill then reget it later

It's a good PSU. Why is he selling a PSU like that? It's not like he would need something more powerful.

He is just selling up and give first dips on the psu as I want something more powerful then my 650.. As I want to go sli soon..

A bit of searching shows you can buy it for that much, or less, new.

Looks pricey for second hand even if it is only 5 weeks old.

It's a cracking psu but he is asking far too much for it. I just had a quick look around and normal price for these seems to be £170-180 although i have found one retailer selling it brand new for just under £143!!

It's only okay. It has decent voltage regulation but average ripple suppression (around ~100mV).

And you can run SLI GTX 580's on a decent £100ish PSU.
