Does anyone choose the EVIL options?

When i played Fallout 3 i killed a guy early on thinking he was lying - he discovered me trying to hack his computer. After i killed him i found out via his computer that he was telling the truth. I couldnt live with what i had done so jumped off a bridge to my death*.

*Actually i reloaded before the crime...which was still bad but not as bad as murder

Generally the good guy options. Baldur's Gate 2 I always had to be the good guy, you got such an emotional attachment to some of the characters that being horrible to them was like kicking puppies. I mean, who could be nasty to Nalia, especially after her out of the blue b****** speech :)

I remember being ultra good all the way through KOTOR 1 aswell, but the ending was so sickly sweet that I wished there was an option right at the end to go mental with a sabre on the whole lot of them while screaming "SURPRISE!"

I used to always be an evil tyrant (never more satisfying than in battle for middle earth hearing Chris lee announce your crushing victory) but recently I've been trying good to see if the games are better that way. It's slightly more rewarding, but less fun.

****** MASS EFFECT 2 SPOILER ALERT ******

I always go good on the first playthrough.

However, I did replay Mass Effect 2 as renegade. The bit on colony where everyone was being mind controlled by that plant was hilarious.

"You can cure the colonists with these grenades."
"Nah, I don't think I'll bother with them."
"Please use them, you don't need to kill anyone."
"No thanks, I'm happy killing people."
"Please.... just take them... in-case you change your mind."
"OK, if it'll shut you up. I'm not going to use them though."

:D

Usually if I get given the choice - I'll play my first game as choices I would choose personally - Then when I'm done, I'll play through it again being as evil as can be :p :D

Being evil can be a lot of fun, but it usually feels like an afterthought in the game. At the very least, it often makes the game harder. (Example - Blowing up Megaton).

Mass Effect is about the most balanced - I foresee the last renegade choice of the game being about equal in terms of firepower to the others you **** over with the rest of the renegade options.

That being said, it annoys me a bit that it is usually even more difficult to be balanced/neutral. My natural instinct in games is to be ruthless, but not necessarily evil.

I usually play evil, especially on single player RPGs. On MMOs I'll try both and then settle on the one with the best community - which tends to be the good guys.

Pol Pot play through from the start.........

all the NPC's deserve to be murdered so I willingly oblige.

In DA:O near the beginning where you have to convince the smithy to help repiar the militia armour i tell him to do one if he thinks I am rescuing his whore of a daughter, so I just run him through with my sword and ransack the gaf... bearded wino junkie got what he deserved.

there should be the option to falcon punch your dad when he is disappointed. Megaton was a cesspool of irradiated mutants they all deserved to eat the mushroom, especially the bell end sheriff bloke with the cowboy hat and the stinking whore in moriaties bar.

Evil play in games is always more fun.

You... have issues. :p

First time through I always play as close as possible to my real personality, which would be neutral-good. After that I'll just go on however I feel, but usually save chaotic- types for later.

Disclaimer: I'm no D&D nerd :o, only know those terms from a few such games, e.g. Planescape:Torment.

I played fallout 3 evil on my first go.

Literally the first thing I did, was blow up megaton.

I had a great experience. I actually came to the conclusion it was better to play the first time as evil..... as I like to do a "complete" playthrough as my second go.... and it's generally easier to achieve that when you're being nice and helping everyone.

For those saying "as evil as possible", which do you consider to be 'more' evil... Cold, efficient evil or passionate, wild evil? Or does it depend on the context?

And, yes, I can sympathise with having a bit of trouble playing evil, heh.

Personally, I play like the ultimate mercenary/thief. If theres profit involved, I'll screw over any character I meet. Poor/homeless characters generally get left alone as they don't offer me anything to steal, I don't kill people for the sake of killing, but if they have nice stuff in their house and they catch me stealing it......
