hey chaps i just got my new cpu and motherboard today, ive installed everything, everything is fine i can get into windows no errors, ive updated the bios to latest 1.50

but my memory is running at 662mhz so i need to go into the eufi bios by pressing f2 to load the xmp profile. But when i do it hangs at the bios splash screen.. (the page telling you what keys to press) im lost any ideas?

reset bios?
what should the ram be running at, i thought 662MHz seems about right (662*2=1324MHz).

does it load normally if you dont press anything?

its corsair xms3 2 x 2gb its loaded xmp profile now.

but ive managed to get into bios, i found if i press it to early it hangs.

If i press it at the last minute it loads :S

anyways just tried crysis blue screen but i overclocked cpu at 4.7 @ 1.28v lol so i have put it down too 4.0ghz for now

Okay so far so good, i havent tried overclocking any more yet. Its all stable at 1.28v @ 4ghz im sure i can push more out of it which i will do.

I have disabled speedstep but some how it still seems to be speedstepping?

I started crysis i am now using 2 x 5850's. I have installed the latest 1.9 patch and the dx11 options, havent got round to putting the high res texture pack.

all on ultra im getting around 45fps - 55fps @ 1920x1080 now i dont know whether its the game or not but the frame rate when its loading a new section will drop considerably low for a split second.. would this be anything to do with the crossfire or just the game?

Please don't disable speed step, there really is no point. Its like sitting at a red light revving the ******** of your car.

Mine also doesn't seem to want to disable speedstep, disabled in bios but seems to be enabled in windows on cpu-z, will be interested to see the outcome of this one!

Your not also having some small problems with mouse hangs + and some onboard sound jerkiness as well are you?! :p

lol i loaded it up once and my mouse was inverted, up was down left was right.. excetera so i took it out of usb and put it back in and that was fixed.

I have the same board, you can disable speed step but I have read that you have to disable some other stuff to turn it off completely (c-states or something I think).

But no, speed step will not hamper overclocking performance, it just throttles back the CPU when it is not being used. As soon as you run prime95 or whatever stress test you use, within a millisecond it will be going full pelt.

-edit Are you guys 100% stable at stock? What are your temps like. Also when you change the DDR3 speed it will show you it in full DDR mode eg, mine was shown as 1333mhz and I bumped it up to 1600mhz.

stock i was fine with idle temps of 32.

ddr was at 1333 but i bumped it to 1600 too.

i will know more tomorrow evening after work. Havent had time to tweak really, just install.

Does anyone know about the framerate dips in crossfire, it happens in crysis 2 when a part of a map is being newly loaded? is it just the game?

okay so i am at 4.4ghz @ 61degrees with a voltage of 1.216v prime 95 nothing has failed. :O

although i set the voltage in bios too 1.3v hmmm. It shows in cpuid as 1.216

it is one of the problems with CF unfortunatly, average and max fps can compete with the more expensive cards, but it will drop to lower fps a lot more often :(

how are you guys setting the voltages in the bios? i have just used ASRocks auto oc to get to 4.4GHz but the vcore is about 1.3-1.35v :(

I did the same, but i go to desktop and cpu-id says my volatages are 1.2v.

there is an option to adjust voltage in bios when you click fixed voltage.

oh right, my temps seem to be just under 80c when prime testing, but when i go to 4.6GHz they go to about 83c in the first 5mins so i decided to drop back until i get a new cooler.

all the apps i have tried give me different readings for the vcore :( would the ASRock utility be the most accurate as it was designed for that board?

I am wondering the same thing too, as all my applications are showing different voltages, i want to overclock more but i dont know which application is showing true voltage. and thus dont want to risk it.
With my cooler i am getting 60-61 degrees in prime @ 4.4
get rid of the stock cooler :P

Cpu-id shows - 1.216
Asus own shows - 1.21
Bios i put 1.3
HW monitor shows - 1.21

not on stock cooler, thats still in the box :p but mine isnt man enough for the 2500k, managed the athlon x3 fine, but this is a jump too far.

just reinstalled windows.................again, so will try different apps and see what volts it shows.
im guessing you set bios to 1.3v fixed? so it doesnt drop even when speedstep kicks in?

from everything i have read bios always reads slightly higher than in windows.
