So I need a couple of rear tires for my 07 Ford Cmax. Given that I've never bought tires for a car before, are there any obvious choices I should be looking at, any obvious places I should be going to (I'm near London) and how much am I looking to pay?

Just buy a pair of whats on it now from blackcircles or whoever is cheapest.

Where's that dude from last time that wanted to put CSC3s on a Raymond's Yaris?

Anyway - What size does the C-max need growse? I'm sure the OcUK masses can find you a bargain.

You say that, it's currently got CSC2's in 205/50 R17. Blackcircles currently wants £147 for one of those. That's quite a lot :(

*edit* just did a search, and they're all expensive. Stupid 17" wheels. Eagle F1's at £138, although if I go down to a V speed I can get Toyo Proxes CF1 at £98 each.

Narh, someone will come and tell you they can be had for £110 each unfitted elsewhere, delivered to your work because you are never home, and then roll it a mile from the office to the train station and then transport the tyres back on rush hour train, and then roll it another mile home when I get off the train. Or I could get a taxi at the cost of £5 each end, times that over the course of 4 days (£40)...that is if I got room at work to store 4 tyres under my desk in an open plan office lol then book a mechanic to fit them for like £10 a tyre. :D :p

What other brands did blackcircle comes back with?

List I have is (ascending price):

Toyo Proxes CF1
Yokohama Advan Sport V103
Dunlop Sport Fast Response
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
Continental Sport Contact 3

And then it's >£150 each.

I'd highly recommend Pirelli Cinturato P7s.
They offer excellent grip whilst being quite a long-lasting tyre. CS3s don't last very long at all.

I put P7s on the S90 over 10,000kms ago and there is plenty of tread left.
CS3s don't last very long at all, but then that's the sacrifice with a very grippy tyre.
