Didnt want to set up a new thread but Jurassic Park will be coming to cinemas again in Full HD before the release of the blu rays. So a bit like BTTF.

Can I ask where you got that little tidbit from?

There are strict regulations in place that state in the first year of a channels HD life it must show a minimum of actual HD content. I can't remember the exact numbers as we don't broadcast in HD any more. The minimum percentage goes up over the next 2 or 3 years.

If Sky never accepted ANY upscaled shows then they would be cutting off a MASSIVE chunk of their library since a lot of it was shot digitally in SD or on film and post produced in SD. A lot of shows are never going to get HD masters made from the original print so SKY will never be able to show them. I can't see that happening.

In all honesty, actually watching a proper SD copy of something that hasn't been compressed to buggery to broadcast it to your home looks not THAT dissimilar to the HD you get at home. They could and i'm fairly certain do upscale a lot and broadcast it. With the greater bandwidth available more of the detail from the SD original is available and so still looks far better than "real" SD.

The T-Rex stuff is still up there with the best! Only the very first dinosaur you see looks rubbish, but then i have always thought it never look good, even on release back in 93.
