Is the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 more quiet than MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 Twin FrozR II?

I can confirm that my Sapphire 6950 2GB Dirt3 Edition that I received today has a twin fan cooler... Not tried it yet though, building this PC is taking longer than I expected!!
My 6950 will be arriving some time this morning. Although, after re-reading the Sapphire Dirt3 offers on Overclockers last night I noticed that they did not call it the 6950 "Dirt3 Edition". They referred to it as a 6950 2GB with a free copy of Dirt3 which made me think that I was probably going to end up with the "old" vapor-x model without the twin fan cooler, with a voucher for Dirt3 dropped in the box. So I went to bed on a bit of a downer.

Reading your post this morning has cheered me up. That's assuming you bought yours from OC the same as me. Anyway, time will tell. I'm waiting for the knock at the door...

Watching that video makes me think the fan speed has been manually set above 75%.

My reference (yay) Asus HD6950 (Rev 1 of course :p) sounds like that at 60%+ yet at autofan it is relatively quiet, only becoming noticable after a couple hours of prolonged use.

Right, just to confirm it is definitely not a 6950 with Dirt 3 added.

You had me wondering there so I rechecked the box and where they've advertised Dirt 3, well, it's not a sticker or anything and is actually within the packaging. Oh, I also got mine from OC as well.

My rig should be complete this morning. At the moment, the 6950 definitely seems quiet - More quiet than my Noctua NH-D14!

I bought two of these to put in Crossfire mode and I have to say I'm very disappointed with the coolers. Anything over 35% becomes very audible.. in auto mode whilst playing TheHunter the fans went up to 50-60% and it was unbearable. I must admit that I haven't taken any extra steps in setting up my Antec 902 with more case fans, and the top fan is switched off but even so, the Sapphire 6950 dual graphics card fans are extremely loud even in medium RPMs.

Interesting that you should mention the noise...

One of the reasons why I bought the Sapphire Dirt3 Edition was because of the good reviews I read about the "quiet" cooler. I also treated myself to a Corsair Obsidian 650D case.
Unfortunately it's one of the early models with the loud fan problems so currently I can't hear the 6950 fans at all but I have no way of knowing (at the moment) whether they're actually running quiet or just being drowned out by the 3 case fans.

Corsair have sent a new fan controller which should be here next week. I'll have a better idea of how loud the 6950 cooler is AFTER I have installed the new controller.

[EDIT]
I used Sapphire Trixx to set the fan speed for test purposes. Beyond 45% I can just start to hear it over the noise of the case fans. Increasing beyond 55-57% and it starts to become irritating.
I wish I'd known about the MSI 6950 2GB Twin FrozrIII going for £200 two weeks ago. I would have waited and ordered that one instead of the Sapphire. Oh well :(
