Steam Summer Sale 2011

As per them suggestions above I've changed my download location to Ukraine. Speed jumped from the 18k I was getting as UK to 700k but now seems to have settled around 250-300.

I dislike it. I want all my games in one place i.e. Steam. The only thing it does do is add a little competition - resulting in even better Steam sales (hopefully) :p

At least it allows us to add games to it much like Steam so that's not so bad. Buying the games cheap at retail and still having a digital backup = win.

I still don't like it though :p

Just Bioshock 2 for me today. Still to play through the original though that i got in the Halloween sale last year, :o
Haha, same here!

I also just bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and redeemed the code to get the Digital Deluxe Edition on Origin :D

Whats Origin like though? As good as Steam? Or is it a steaming pile of...?

There's nothing wrong with it. It's just another thing to have running.

Very good that you can activate most modern EA games on it even if you bought them from Steam or somewhere else.

I won't argue with a free second download source for a bunch of titles.

Bah, I was here first. Bandwidth thief! :p

More than anything I don't like that titles are now becoming "exclusive" on there.

Pretty much the only EA game I plan on getting in the near future will be The Old Republic - will have to go to retail to get that because I refuse to support such a lame marketing strategy :(

Some games aren't showing on Steam Calculator.

I've got 90 on Steam at the moment but there's quite a few that I still buy in retail nowadays.

I'm a bit of a cheapskate so if it comes to the choice between having an inconvenient retail version for half price or less and an expensive Steam counterpart, I usually choose the cheaper alternative.

Only started purchasing games on Steam 10 months ago and vast majority of these comes from Sales :)

Bought nothing this evening, all crap.

I don't understand why people whine about the Sales having a crap catalogue, they don't and today's daily deals have some great games, e.g. Half Life 2 + Episodes, Bioshock, Plants vs Zombies, Darksiders, BFBC2 and Football Manager.

Just because you don't fancy any of the games or own them doesn't mean their crap.

Not great, they've pretty much ripped off every aspect of steam but not implemented it as well.

Thing i hate the most is that steam is one of very few applications i have set to run on startup, it starts up, i have all my games and friends in one place. I wouldn't want to waste the processing time and desktop space (i generally keep the games list and friends list open on the right side of my monitor) on having two programs running with 2 friends lists and 2 games lists, that's my main reason for hating it.

But if you have to walk for it does it still make you a cheapskate?

I made a derp, I actually have 158 games on steam... Although still nowhere near the 583 or something that someone had earlier!! :O:O:O:O:O

ALSO: Oblivion with Eyefinity is the sexiest thing I've ever seen :3
