Quick one

When on the checkout in supermarkets is it rude not to place that divider after your shopping?

I tend not to but for once I did today! What do you normally do?

I personally would consider it slightly rude not to yes. Reason being, the person after you can't put down their shopping until the divider has been placed and it's usually difficult to reach unless you're stood right next to the conveyor, which is where the next person to pay will be.

Basically it's a tiny bit of effort for you to save a greater degree of effort for someone else.

Doesn't bother me either way, I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, and they've got no obligation to go out of their way to help me, but if they do then fair enough.

This dilema would never even enter my head, its just as easy for either customer to put one on.

been thinking about it for a while
actually put it into action today

general consensus "yes I do it and yes if the person in front don't do it I consider that rude"

cool I shall start doing it then.

I find it a bit rude, kinda looks like you're not worth their time.

But i do yes.

What do you think of it, when they see you put a divider don't but don't have the courtesy to say thanks?

I'd be more bothered if the divider wasn't in easy reach of me (and they hadn't put one down) and they made no effort to help me if I asked if they wouldn't mind passing it over.
