Evening folks.

I never managed to finish Fallout 3 on the 360 so downloaded it off Steam for £15. I've noticed there are some awesome mods, such as NMC's texture mod, and I'd love to get it installed.
However, due to my Fallout 3 being downloaded on Steam, are any mods likely to affect the game or my account in negative ways?

Is it perfectly fine to do so? I don't want any problems to arise that's all!
Thanks!

Only time you'll have problems with steam is if you modify game files that are VAC secured - which is usually online games.

Fallout 3 isn't VAC secured at all though. It's not even Steamworks... Edit: Nm, I see what you were saying.

You're completely fine to use mods with the Steam version. If in doubt about VAC, just check the store page for said game.

Yeah as others said you can use mods fine. I have over 150 plugins atm on a steam version. over 100 hours in and haven't even been to Cantebury Commons, Tenpenny Tower or done any of the dlc's.

Mod it and enjoy an Awesome game!

Which mods do you have? I have quite a few but a lot of them seem to cause a CTD... Its driving me crazy. Fellout being a big culprit, outside it will ctd and when I go indoors..

I have fellout(essential!) but as part of FOOK2. FOOK2 (fallout overhaul kit) incorporates quite a few mods, such as Fellout, EVE, Streetlights, Phalanx followers overhaul. If i didn't use it i would have far too many mods.

It is probably a load order problem Frenzy. You can use the BOSS program in Fallout Mod Manager to sort them for you, but it would be better to configure them yourself, using the installation advice on Fallout Nexus for each mod.

I also use Enhanced weather Rain and Snow. Amazing, some of the sandstorms are brilliant.

The main gameplay mods i use are FOOK2, MMM, Weapons mod kits, Enhanced weather, Imps More complex needs (excellent mod, only just installed it)

Also worth downloading if you haven't already is CASM which replaces the autosve function to a rolling save system which you can configure as you wish.

Also, have you tried the fixes mentioned on the Fallout nexus (quad-core fix etc)

Nope do you have a link to this? When googling CTDs I did find something relating to what you mentioned though to lock the number of threads to 2 but this did not stop the CTDs, if I disable almost all my mods then I dont get any ctds so its definately a mod but BOSS auto sort doesnt fix it and FO3edit doesnt pick up any conflicts :S

Have you created a merged patch? Master update?

A master update stopped me getting CTD's at one point. Also have you tried the stutter remover?
Stutter remover
This has some useful advice as well
Especially about the audio codec, which helped me a lot at first when i had quite a few ctd's.

It is worth noting though that it is almost impossible to play Fallout 3 without any crashes ever!!

Hang in there though. It took me ages to get a stable game, but now i have, with all the great mods, i consider Fallout 3 to be probably the best game i have ever played!

Post your load order if you like. I'm no expert, but i might spot some conflict maybe:)

Nope not tried a merged patch or master update, im going to try those links you suggested. Thanks :)
If that dont work ill pm you my load order, i dont want people to know i have killable children... oops :P

What exactly does the FOOK2 mod include mate?
I've sourced nearly all of the mods in your post but NMC's texture mod, is that one included within FOOK2?

I'm guessing FOOK2 incorportates; Fellout & EVE (Energy Visuals Enhanced?), some new weapons, clothing etc, but what is Streelights and Phalanx?

Streetlighs enhances lamposts and such. Doesn't sound like much, but the effects are brilliant, especially with Fellout making the nights much darker.
Phalnx is the author of a mod which changes the followers system so that they have many new commands greatly enhances their tactics and you can have as many followers as you like amd it even adds 3 completely new followers to the game, 2 of them are even voice acted.

FOOK2 includes many, many new weapons and armours (Talon Company and BOS are completely redone so that they wear different armour and have different types etc. Other things include Grrenade hotkey, nightvision, explosive entry(use grenades to open doors which you can't pick) and many other features. All can be configured to your liking through an ingame menu.

There are 2 main overhaul mods FOOK2 and Fallout Wanderers Edition. Unfortunately they are not officially compatible but someone has created a compatability patch, but i could not get it to work. I prefer FOOK2 because of all that it includes, and FWE's features can be replicated easier.

Check out FOIP on Fallout Nexus for compatability patches for amjor mods.

BTw, if you find the nights too dark with Fellout (i certainly did) then definitely get Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow which includes a plugin which slightly decreases the darkness to a good level.

Theres a fellout patch that fixes the dark nights :)

None of those fixes have worked so im going to remove all the mods included in **** and download that instead

If you just want a basic overhaul of the main game, you can't go wrong with FOOK2, MMM, Weapons mod kits, IMP's More complex needs, Enhanced Weather.

My load order is filled up with quest mods mainly. And town overhauls.

Don't forget compatability patches though. FOOK2 and MMM will not work together without a cp. Download it from the **** website, not the Nexus, as it is outdated. Also for the FOOK2 WMK cp.

I am getting to grips with Real Time Settler atm. Amazing stuff.

Thanks Pighardia, I just installed FOMM, and am going to start downloading some mods pretty soon! It's going to be a good game tonight :)
