UK to donate £38 million to Ethiopa.

Brilliant, we all live in poverty thanks to all the cutbacks.. yet the poxy government can ship out 38m (a new hospital) to a country that lives off handouts because of its malaise.

Homeless people do, Cancer patients waiting 10-15 years for a doctors appointment would like a new hospital as well.

Haha are you smoking crack?

I dont think anyone has waited 10 years to see a doctor.

And of course homeless people do, it's all in the name there.

So we giving them the money to spend on food or we sending the actual food? If its the 1st one the it wil be wasted on everything but food.

Im exaggerating, but still - the govt. dishing out millions when this country needs it?

Look after yourself is my philosophy - let Comic Relief etc do the African stuff if people want to feel good.

Maybe you should go visit Ethiopia before suggesting that we all live in Poverty.

I doubt you know what real poverty is. The vast majority of Ethiopians certainly do.

£38m is a trifling amount of money for the UK and if it helps avert another humanitarian disaster where millions die from simple lack of basic nutrition then it is money well spent.

When we give aid to countries aren't there often clauses that mean a certain percentage has to be spent with British companies, thus helping our economy? Or have I just made that up?

Why don't they stop giving birth, that would help.

I imagine you know full well that no-one waits anywhere near that long even for minor, non-urgent ops, let alone cancer treatment. £38 million if pumped into the NHS could probably save tens of people. Given to Ethiopia, it's going to save 1.3 million people from starvation over the next three months from a situation, to quote from the link “Through no fault of its own “.

Do you value 20 British residents' lives over 1.3 million Ethiopians' lives?

What has happened to the billions that has been poured into Africa?

What happens to the billions we pour into the NHS?
...and nothing has changed,
fat people remain fat, people eat too much, drink too much, still smoke...

Corruption takes some of the money, but when drought hits, and is constant, people starve, its a fact of life that without support those people will die, in tens of thousands. Southern England came close to drought this summer, it can happen anywehre, and even the best resourced laces can still suffer disaster.

38M to save 10's thousands of lives, very much worth it in my view.
