so was thinking, were any films converted to good games? likewise did any games make good films?
also, what games would make good films, and what films do you think would make good games?

Obvious one would be Heavy Rain if they cast a good set of actors and follow the game plot to a tee. There are some good licenced game out there but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Games to films
Halo series
Fallout 3/ new Vegas
Oblivion
Crysis series
Call of duty (if they focussed on storyline!)

Films that made good games
Fast & furious
Lord of the rings

Films that would be good as games
Saving private Ryan
Can't think of any more just now

Been waiting forever for the original Metal Gear Solid to be made into a movie, but after seeing what they done to resi evil I'm not too sure if they would ruin it or not.:(

Like mentioned above Mass effect and Oblivion would make great movies, and perhaps metro would end up being a half decent film anyone?

Edit: Dragon Age origins would be beast!

Chronicles of riddick, both good films and good games. (a little short but you can get them cheap on steam now i think) Butcher bay was great fun to play and not go round to finishing dark athena.

Ahem Starcraft movie anyone? Not to mention the highly anticipated WOW movie. Also enjoyed the low budget cgi warhammer 40k movie, could imagine it with a big budget and action like the first Dawn of War intro

Totally forgot about those two, yes they would both make excellent movies especially starcraft.

The matrix game on PS2 (Enter the matrix?) was probably one of my favourite games ever. Maybe it was cause I was young but at the time I thought it was amazing.

As far as video game to movie goes, Resident Evil didn't do too badly, I think theres 4 or 5 films out there.

The Alien franchise hasn't done badly either.. theres as many games as there are films

I've played plenty of games based on film, and watched plenty of movies based on games, and I'd honestly have to say in both cases 9 times out of 10, they tend to have a cheesey/novelty feel about them

For example people that love Doom will probably /shrug at the movie, but jump out of their seats cheering at the 60 second FPS sequence, then go back to sleep

I'd like to see a MGS movie.. they have 8 (i think) games in the series to work with, so long as its not MGS2 :P As far as storyline goes... the whole teacher/student vibe with MGS3 would be interesting, mgs4 has a bit of a "old mans rambo" vibe about it, either could work

Video Games based on Film

Film based on Video Games

Hope that helps :)

I'd go with Advent Children, however the english voice acting spoiled it, and Last Order should had been included as either a Prelude to the movie, or part of the movie itself as flashbacks

Half-Life would make a rubbish film imo, if it had Gordon in it.

Suddenly giving voice and emotion to an unseen, unheard badass protagonist. It would ruin Freeman for me.

I dunno, if they cast Hugh Laurie as the Freeman it could work. The photoshop of House on the Half Life poster really works for me. Can‘t link it as I‘m on me phone.

I know what you mean about if he spoke it would ruin it though.
