I just had to ask someone to help me send a message on my phone.

The *one* signal I've ever used to determine "oldism" is if the person in question needs assistance with an everyday piece of technology.

I'm old. At 28.

Nope. You said that to measure 'oldness' you test to see whether somebody needs help with an everyday device, and used that test on yourself. I then disproved the 100% guaranteed results of the test by giving you an example where it simply doesn't work, and I also offered you an alternative.

Just because you did something that old people do, doesn't make you old. Old people eat food, I eat food. It doesn't make me old.

Get out and give over. I'm a software developer. I have had an unhealthy interest in all things tech since before I could walk. I just had to ask someone how to send a SMS to a number (and not a name) on my iPhone that I have had for over 2 years.

Also I said "oldism" not "oldness". I'm not refering to age at all here. I'm referring to being "old" vs "Not old". Not old is the sort who can work out how to send to a number without assistance. Old is not.

And even if you didn't know it, you couldn't work it out? Generally that's how 1337 people operate, yourself and myself included. We don't know everything about technology, but given the amount we've used it, we have the intuition to work new things out fairly easily

As for the OP, the thing that matters is not whether you asked for help with technology, but can you now do the task which you asked for help with? You're old when you have to keep asking.
