New York for a week.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Times Sq, nothing flash but great location and perfectly comfortable, 7 days sounds a lot to me, I had had enough after 3

It's amazing how different people are, we spent 7 days in New York back in 2007 and it was nothing like long enough there is so much to do and see, yet as discussed before we were bored in vegas after three nights and you can't seem to get enough of the place.

Funny you should say that, I've been to NYC three times in the past 18 months, twice in the last 4 months, and I still can't get enough. Vegas doesn't interest me at all, although admittedly I've never been.

I'd like to see San Francisco though!

What do you do each time you go? Genuinely interested. Does it really change that much in the space of a few months? If not, why go and see the same thing you've seen a few months previously?

Going to NY in november for 7 days also, staying at Hotel Mela we booked in february the prices now have well shot up on average £230-260 a night think i paid £100-£120 when i booked then. Looking at doing the helicopter ride also looking at getting the NY city pass for the week looks pretty good on the discounts?

Hmmm, I'm only going to spend 2 full days in New York.

Central Park, see some nice buildings, go up the Rockerfella centre job done.

I think probably because I am more of a "do things" than "see things" sort of person, it that makes sense

I was told that Brooklyn basically has no crime and that they either shut down their jail or are looking to; not sure if there's any truth in that though.

Funniest thing in the thread :D

My quick tips:
Arrange your trip off peak to get cheaper hotels.
Avoid June-August, it's just excessively hot and humid.
Do the Rockerfeller Center, go up late in the day and you can get daylight and night time photos. Views of the ESB and Central Park.
Take the Staten Island Ferry (it's free) to get your photos of the Statue of Liberty. Turn around in SI and get straight back on the ferry.
Walk across the BK bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn, eat pizza at Grimaldi's, grab an ice-cream from the pier. Walk or catch the subway back

The first time I went was Christmas 2009 - A very different city at that time of year to any other time.

Last 2 times I went, I went in February, then in May. February's very cold (still snow on the ground), and I covered all the museums and art galleries that I didn't have a chance to do before, then saw as many of the boroughs that I hadn't seen before as possible.

I also made a few friends over there, and because of that, I had a place to stay in May. They showed me around a lot of the non-touristy areas, some bars and clubs / comedy clubs I'd never have found otherwise, and it's always a different place when you've got mates around. Make them local mates, and it's absolutely brilliant.

I'd go back again too, purely because I still haven't seen it all. I suppose I have a fascination with the city as a whole though. I don't have that fascination with Chicago, Detroit or Washington, so I would probably visit those places once and then not go back for years. I saw Philadelphia for a day trip out of NY, and after a day I felt like I'd seen all I wanted to see.

:)
