Ebay fraud :(

Saw this don't know if it applies or if you have time.

Go to the police

You will need to produce all of your email documentation and Ebay screen prints.

Tell them that they need to fill in a RIPA (REGULATORY INVESTIGATION POWERS ACT) form which they fax to Royal Mail security - they should have the number or perhaps CID will. This gives Royal Mail the authority to look for and return this item if it still in the UK. If you are too late then

get over there is possible, call the police now (or better yet go to the police station) and get them over to the address - if they say it's a civil matter point out that obtaining goods by deception is a criminal offence

What was the buyers feedback?

Ring paypal, if you have the paypal money in your account then i would assume your covered.

I wouldnt give a toss who was i n the house, they would be giving me petrol money and i would be taking the Ipad back home.

CV1 4JX Foleshill road.

Well that part of Foleshill road is always busy with traffic. Foleshill road is probably the longest road in Cov.

If you were going down, I'd park in the Kwik Fit Garage.

There's a general store on the corner of Brooklyn Road/Foleshill road. You may want to give them a ring to find out what time the postman usually arrives. Say you're doing a survey or something lol.

Alternatively, try

Pams Afro-Caribbean Shop‎ [hope it's not them!]

What's driving to the buyer going to achieve? The postman won't give it to you and I'm sure someone who has just scammed you isn't going to in the mood to talk it through over a cup of tea.

Open a dispute (let's not forget that eBay didn't stop this guys account in time so must face some of the responsibility) or contact the police.

Thats pretty much what my wife said.

Going to achieve? Stop the postie from giving the ipad to the scammer, ask him to return to sender.

A dispute? The guy is working with a stolen account, the funds probably come from a stolen paypal account too.

Drive to Coventry

Whoever is stealing it is probably some little nerd short on cash.

Ebay = Sucks.

Never have and never will use them.

Well that's that then isn't it!

FYI I've been a long time eBay user and have never had a serious problem buying or selling.

The fact that you've never used it and have decided that it "sucks" based on this extensive experience means you probably touch yourself at night.

I'd drive there, wait for the postman to deliver, go knock on the door and get it back. If he/she calls the police for trespassing, then surely you have proof that he/she has stolen goods.

tbh, if you did do this, the person would probably be so freaked out that you came all this way, that they would give it back to you anyway. As said, its probably some nerd.

I agree that the postman probably won't help, and I suspect the police won't sit outside the address all day either waiting for the postman. If OP is there in person at least he would be able call the police and say ask them to attend as soon as the postman does arrive, or follow the recipient if he/she tries to leave with the parcel.

EDIT: hopefully though if the OP is contacting the police already, the police might do as suggested and apply for the RIPA, and maybe go to the property in hopes of an easy arrest.

The odds of anyone being in the property are slim to none. The old scam is get a house where you know no one will be in, with a low letterbox. The postman knocks leaves card, said person is watching then fishes out the card, and takes it to the post office for collection a few days later.

True, never thought of that before.

Citizens arrest for fraud and obtaining goods by deception.
