Hello,

Which 15" laptop out there has the best battery performance

Onboard graphics is fine no game playing, got the 360 for that.

Just need a quick windows 7 laptop, light would be nice as well.

Currenlty only getting around 1 hour with my 2 year old acer 6930g with all the power saving options on, can hardly see the screen its that dark :p

Thanks Ben

I've got one of those as well and it's just as bad. I recently bought a new battery for it, thinking I had ruined it by having it plugged in all the time, but even with the new one it seems to go flat after about 45 minutes. It's the main reason I got the 9 cell battery with the XPS15 I've just bought!

Thanks for the info :)

Not gonna bother with a new battery then.

Just looking at the new Dell XPS 15z, £1000 though  dont think i can bring myself to spend that much on a laptop.

The acer 6930g set me back £600 2 years ago.

Mine's not the Z, just the standard XPS15. From the reports I've read around the web, it will do about 6 hours with the 9 cell battery. It cost me £650 from the Dell outlet.

There is another one on there now with this spec for £550 inc vat:

XPS L502x
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Processor : Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz
Hard Drive : 500GB Serial ATA II (7200 RPM) Hard Drive
4 GB (2x2GB)1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
8X DVD +/- RW DRIVE
Display : 15.6" HD WLED True-Life (1366x768) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card
Battery : Primary 9-cell 90W/HR LI-ION
LCD Back Cover : Silver WWAN
Wireless: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (2x2 b/g/+ Bluetooth Combo Card)

Dells with the extended batteries are a good shout. The laptops with the best batteries are definitely the professional type ones like the DELL latitude range and equivalents, so it's worth having a look at them. 13 inch also will have better battery life than 15.

15" with long battery life? I'd imagine that the current best are the 15" MacBook Pro, or the 15" Dell Latitude with the big battery sticking out the back (I forget what it's called now, used to be the E6410).
