It takes ages to do all of it's punkbuster stuff.

I google the problem, the solution is to delete the game and redownload according to the activision website.
Now I am extremely slowly redownloading...

For everyone having problems with the Steam Guard email I had that too. There's an option somewhere saying something along the lines of I haven't received the email, send another. When I clicked that I got the second email through instantly.

Stalker isn't much like Far Cry 2. It's an openish world but other than that it's quite different.

As in it's good.

Far Cry 2 isn't.

Far Cry 2 would be absolutely fine is the checkpoints didn't respawn all the time.

Not that it's much help to you now but you should have tried verifying the game files first.

both Shift 2 and Shogun 2 are cheaper to buy elsewhere, I almost bought Shift 2 until I had a quick google.

Shift 2 doesn't register on Steam but can be had for £13 from a few well-known retailers.

Shogun 2 can be had for £14 from the Jersey retailer and does register on Steam. Limited Edition is quite a bit more expensive, one retailer has it for £18 but it's out of stock.

Steam has a good offer on the Need for Speed Pack for £25 but you're unlikely to play both Shift and Shift 2 or the pretty dated and poor Undercover. Hot Pursuit is less than £8 nowadays.
