Girlfriend missed her flight, what can be done?

Not a lot you can do really apart from rebook it.
But make sure that you can still use the return leg.

Does your travel insurance cover missed flights? Not having ever missed one I don't know...but might you be able to claim the £150 back on your policy?

1) rebook secretly by paying the fee
2) make fake phonecall shouting and screaming at the imaginary customer service pretending to get a free rebook because you're alpha
3) ???
4) profit

P.S Let's face it, you'll have to pay and rebook, so the choice is between paying and rebooking and the gf being a miser or paying in secret and rebooking and getting something out of it with the gf being happy and all over you about how manly you are.

I missed a European flight once due to the m11 being closed and us at the time being stuck on it, cost £30 to catch the next flight 2 hours later

How'd she miss the flight? I'm amazed people can, and so often do, miss flights.

I have no sympathy for people who time it to arrive an hour before the flight and then the slightest delay means they miss it.

However, if you;ve flown in on another plane which ended up being 4 hours late you can't do much to catch your next one.

Equally, breaking down and the breakdown guy doesn't turn up for 2 hours has almost cost me a flight before now.

Arrived about 10 mins before a ryanair flights check in was about to close. Was sooo packed and by time i sorted suitcase to make sure it wasnt over the stupid 15kg limit and got to desk literally about 1 minute had passed after check in closure, wouldnt let us on and had to pay £100 each for me and gf to get the next flight the next morning, had to spend the night in stanstead
Not flown with them since and dont plan to ever again.

I don't get what your asking, although you may of said as I advent read all the posts.

You paid £150 for a rebook and they reckon you will be entitled to a £200 refund. So your GF messes up and gets the flight £50 off. Sounds like a bargain to me.

So you admit to being late to check in. How is that the fault of the airline?

I worked on Ryanair check in for 2 years and we were instructed to close bang on time. The problem is, if you stay open for 1 or 2 people, there was always the risk that others would then arrive late meaning you would have to check those people in as well. That delay would result in the final flight figures being passed late to the Dispatcher who would be waiting in order to create the loadsheet.

Dear oh dear

£150 to change the ticket, or £200 to cancel the trip altogether. ;)

Oh that makes more sense. Well that's a no brained, stump up and look at insurance and see if you're covered. Or take it on the chin.

Never missed a flight but my mum nearly did, she was piddling about getting ready and we had a 2 hour car journey to get to Liverpool, I exceeded the speedlimit and have never drove that fast since. I knew my mum was scared as she does not like to drive fast but she just biy her lip and said nowt.

I cant imagine my parents ever missing a flight. They always leave to get there at the very start of the checkin time. Usually like 3 hours before the flight itself.

As everyone has said, it was your fault, not theres, so they are within their right to hold a % of the money due to losses on the seat not being filled.

You'll just have to rebook, or read the small print and see what can be refunded :)

Stupid 15kg limit...Hell, if you read the booking page it tells you the limit, it was your fault for not reading that and not making sure your luggage was over the limit :p

You could arrive to the check-in desk 3 hours before your flight, if you don't check-in before the check-in closes it is not there fault, it is yours...Only reason it 'might' be theres would be because of other people causing arguments, in which case talking to someone higher up will do the trick.

Lesson learned hopefully, I've flown with Ryan-Air about 6 times, never had an issue
