Got this problem with this board.

Just fitted it into my pc, triple checked everything, all powers up, but the monitors not getting a signal. Ive tried different monitors, different cables, other gfx cards, nothing. Tried re-seating everything, took all the leads to the motherboard off, and plugged them back in. On the error window its says 9, thats it, no beeps or anything, dont cycle through any numbers, just 9. :(

Any help would be much appreciated?

cheers

are both the motherboard power cables on nice and tight?
from manual the only ones with 9 in are :
D9 - Store the Uncompressed pointer for future use in PMM. Copying Main BIOS
into memory. Leaves all RAM below 1MB Read-Write including E000 and
F000 shadow areas but closing SMRAM.
90 - Late POST initialization of system management interrupt.
A9 Wait for user input at config display if needed.

god knows what it means though.

has it ever worked or is this a new build?

Checked everything multiple times, checked cpu and heatsink, everything i can think of. I got the same code in the book, but its just 9 on its own, cant find anything in the book that says just 9, theres D9, A9, 90 etc

yeh is an odd one. have you tried without ram fitted, does the error change, if you remove just the gfx card, does the error change?

Tried without ram and gfx fitted, just standard board with The 24 and 8 pins connected and pwr switch, still the same number 9.

Yes reset cmos. PSU and cpu were working fine last night on another motherboard. New motherboard today, fitted, it, nothing. USB keyboard and mouse, ive tried booting the pc with nothing attached via the rear panel.

was this a new motherboard?

i would first try a skeleton build (leave the bios battery out whilst stripping out of the case) and see if that clears it. if that fails, a quick email to ASRock or the retailer you purchased from.
i cant remember if the 890FX would let you flash from usb stick if bios failed, might be worth a quick google.

Motherboard was purchased off that well known auction site, was stated working fine in the listing, but you never know with that place. I can always send it back and get a refund, i just want to make sure its 100% faulty, as its looking that way to me. But i could be wrong, thats why im here. Anyway i took it out the case, tried it on its own as a skeleton build, same thing..9. Then tried my old motherboard, booted up fine, so there is 100% nothing wrong with any of the components.

without knowing what error code 9 is its hard to diagnose. think ASRock are the first port of call or contact the seller maybe.
the problem is proving it was faulty when shipped and not a fault whilst you have been building it.

It wernt wrapped very well for starters, was sent in just its own box. I have contacted the seller, i will await a reply. I think this will be the last time i buy anything electrical from that place, fed up with it. Same happened with a 6970 i brought, had to send it back, and a 6950 i didnt even receive it (got full refunds on both cases) but you would have fault id learnt my lesson by now. :D

I will get in touch with asrock, cheers for your help anyway.

hopefully you will get it sorted.
how long ago did you buy it? cant see why you shouldnt get a refund.
i try to avoid ebay where possible unless i can collect. get to see it working then.

Gave up on it, its getting sent back 2moro, seller will give me a full refund. Think i will stay clear of ebay for electrical goods from now on, unless like you said, collection. Now on the hunt for another mobo, preferably and am3+ one.
