A 2007 (56 plate) E90 335i touring is for sale locally, seems to have the following specs :

Manual
70k
Le Mans Blue/Black leather
Bluetooth

Seems in outstanding condition. Does not have heated seats or nav which may be an issue. Dealer is looking £13k.

Anything that should be looked for? I've read of turbo issues on the engines, so a BMW warranty is a must?

No nav means no iDrive, which is a shame, but explains the price.

A warranty is a must really, but I'm not sure what the mileage limits are. Someone will be along shortly to explain that to you :)

From memory 60k miles starts to cause some issues around extended warranty and 100k is a no-no, but fox has just bought a manual 335 and is well up to speed on warranty issues. I'm sure he'll be along to provide some good definitive advice.

Funnily enough, just back from looking at an approved used 57 plate 335i SE auto coupe. It seemed to have most of the desirable options ticked, Nav, bluetooth etc. Its on 31,200 miles and they wanted £20,000 for it. Was quite tempted, but ideally i would want a manual in M-Sport trim.

melchy 20k is way too much for that. I did not manage to sell my one for 15.5 so that one is way over priced. Also i would not worry too much about the M sport as 335i has most of the Msport options anyway. You can retrofit the bumpers for 1k if you really want.

I did think it was a bit on the expensive side especially given Fox I think managed to get a 58? plate one for around the same money.

The reason you are having trouble selling yours Paras is probably because its one of the very first ones with the older iDrive (I dont mean it doesnt have HDD iDrive, it has the version thats even older than that without shortcut buttons etc) and it's pre Efficient Dynamics thus in the top tax bracket. It's also a year older and doesn't have the BMW warranty.

The warranty is absolutely essential on these and becomes quite expensive after 60k miles.

The car I was looking at was a September 07 car and they had it listed as tax band L, but on doing a bit of reading about should a 335 of that age not be tax band K ?

Anyway I didn't mean to hijack the ops post.

Missed that thread, did a search so that I could jealously look over the thread but couldn't find it?

Only cars built after October 2007 I think it was are tax band K. So quite a few 57's are pre ED. Seems that one was as well.

Thanks, probably best that I hold out for a slightly newer manual coupe if I can find one.

If you rest your finger on the button, does it preview what the shortcut is?

Sorry for OT

You should do one of them super reviews on the new car Fox.

I agree. I know he did one when he was test driving but now he's had a couple of weeks of living with it day to day - a small review would be helpful to others looking for these types of car in the future.

From reading his posts - i get the feeling that he perhaps doesn't enjoy it as much as the 530i. Not sure "enjoy" is the right word, but perhaps feel underwhelmed by it as an overall package compared to the E39.

Yea well thats the trouble when you have had a truely special car, you spend months and years and thousands of pounds looking for its modern perfect replacement, then you find out it dosent exist and the whole thing is underwhelming.

TBH i think the fact that it is a ~£450 to tax a year will impact it's price and you then have a possible bargaining tool.

The thing for me is, i have the money now to get one, but i'm not done with my 330i yet. I can't bring myself to spend £10-12k + my car on something which is very similar. I'm certain now that i will wait until at least Spring 2012, continue to save hard, and perhaps a good M-Sport ED one will be in range.
