Taken from the top 20 games on both platforms.

Multiplatform sales:
XBOX 360: 74m (11 titles)
PS3: 60m (13 titles)

Exclusive sales:
XBOX 360: 60m (9 titles)
PS3: 32m (7 titles)
(Sauce)

Discuss.

I think your missing that you would need to also include the total amount of PS3 owners and XBOX 360 owners.

Because if you have 5 PS3 owners and 5 million XBOX owners, you're going to have a lot more XBOX exclusive game owners :L.

Also by saying discuss, discuss what?

Numbers are great but you can extract lots of things from a set of numbers. What in particular would you like to discuss?

The fact that XBOX has on average more sales per title or that XBOX has more of its exclusives in the top 20 or one of a lot of other things? =/

Isn't there some kind of rule about just posting something without actually adding anything to it yourself? If not, there ought to be.

The PS3 ones are generally excellent, the Xbox ones are not.

Would you rather have 10 Vauxhall Corsa's or 1 Bugatti Veyron.

Blame the Halo fanbois for that stat

That and the fact they seem to churn out Halo and Forza games a bloody sight more frequently than the PS3 gets a Gran Turismo or a Metal Gear Solid

 This is a bait thread for flaming obviously.

All you are going to do is start another PS3 vs xbox360 flame war.

I say lock before it starts.

(look at the post above for evidence)

The thread title induces an argument all by itself.

PS3 exclusives tend to appeal to the kind of games I like, Xbox 360 ones, not so much, which is why I don't have a 360, I've been tempted by one but the likelihood is that I'll never buy one.

I only own an xbox 360 but if some kind sole wants to buy me a ps3 and some games I'll be happy to compare the exclusives and offer balanced opinion on the matter :D

I bet half of the games on the 360 'exclusive' list are available on the PC too and none or possibly one or two are for the PS3 list.

Also the 360 has a much larger userbase so it's hardly surprising that their revenue is larger.

And one of them is Halo

How many on each list are recent releases btw? As far as i see it, the 360 has had a pretty poor couple of years for exclusives with the Halo franchise and Forza being the only two stand-out exclusives that i can think of.

But yeah ultimately, larger userbase = larger profits. Well duh?

I don't know. At least it is actually a compare thread and not a different thread turning into one :p

But as the 360 userbase is bigger it's pretty obvious.

I thought the 360 and PS3 userbases were pretty similar now? How far apart are they?

According to Wiki the PS3 has sold 50,000,000 units and the Xbox 55,000,000. So there's not that much in it, but that doesn't tell how many are subscribed to Xbox Live or PSN either. I can't be bothered to look for those numbers after a quick Google it was only giving me outdated information from last year so meh.

5 million extra consoles isn't exactly a small amount of users and that can easily be attributed to the sales of the extra games. Also in my experience some people bought a PS3 initially as it was cheaper than an equivalently good Blu-Ray Player at the time. I don't think many people would have bought an Xbox360 to play DVD's.
