Does anyone know what this is all about?
It is a 4pin molex plug situated in between the cpu and the pci-e slots.
Is it for extra power to be provided to the board? kinda like the boards that have 2x8pin power connectors for the cpu?

Has anyone used the sli/xfire power connector?
Did it make any difference?

I guess it would take some of the load off of the board, and allow more power to go else where if you use this connector, maybe helping with stablising overclocks?

its if you are using 3 cards, no need for it with just 2.
You need to use that 4 pin molex connector when using 2 GPU cards in SLI/crossfire

i have looked through the manual and the online one and cannot find this anywhere

EDIT : i have a z68 mobo, so maybe CF/SLI is different for it.

mine too - for more than 2 months too.

im sure stulid read somewhere it was only needed for when you have 3 cards fitted.
not sure whether its worth just plugging it in anyways now. can it do any harm/good as both cards are powered already?

actually, maybe thats it, maybe its for 2 non powered cards in CF (if there are CF capable non powered cards)

As I understand it, it's not needed at all, but it's for those who want to overclock their graphic cards. It supplies a bit of extra juice to increase the chance you'll be able to keep them stable.
