E90 335i - any info?

TBH i think the fact that it is a ~£450 to tax a year will impact it's price and you then have a possible bargaining tool.

The thing for me is, i have the money now to get one, but i'm not done with my 330i yet. I can't bring myself to spend £10-12k + my car on something which is very similar. I'm certain now that i will wait until at least Spring 2012, continue to save hard, and perhaps a good M-Sport ED one will be in range.

Or a new 5 series with a decent engine.

Would kill for an F10 535i but i think they're a good few years before their in my budget. Not to mention everyone loves stupid diesel's these days so they probably won't sell any new 535i's so there will be none for me to buy :(

What do you want to hear, it aint great spec so its cheap.

I wouldnt buy a 70k mile £13k 335i. Too much of a risk, couldnt be bothered with the faff.

If you want to spend closer to £10k than £20k and you really must have an E90 then buy an N52 engined 330i. And still keep a couple of grand in the bank for when the iDrive packs in or something.

I park next to an E90 335 in le mans blue when in Swindon and it looks lovely.

As great as the coupes look I do like the saloon a lot, maybe an E90 330i could be a decent next car to look at.

Yes it does.
It's a brilliant little thing. Very intuitive.

You'd be surprised. There are a fair few 535i M Sports for sale at the moment. Yet to see any manuals though.
Although the new 8 speed gearbox is truly sublime.

I was amazed to see with the revised F10 lineup announced this month the 530i M Sport with 272bhp N53 has made a return to the 5 Series range for the first time since the end of the E60.

I am even more suprised to learn that despite being some 40bhp more powerful than the other new engine in the range, the 2 litre turbocharged 245bhp 528i, its also 0.5 seconds slower to 60, making me wonder why it exists

How come with 40bhp more, it's 0.5 slower . Surely it can't weigh that much more?? Or amn I missing something?

Is the 2 litre turbo a 4 cylinder? If so i think thats a step in the wrong direction, 5 series cars are at the size point where refinement is king.

That wouldn't make any sense at all.

Perhaps the 4-pot has a lot less torque than the 6-pot.

Well i have found out that the new 528i will have the new 8 speed automatic transmission, so it is entirely possible that the 530i will only get the old 6 speed one - perhaps an attempt to try to get people to buy the more economical car? Perhaps the 6cyl unit is better suited the 6 speed box, whereas the low down torque of the 4cyl turbo (max torque from 1250rpm IIRC) makes it more ideal for the new 8 speed box.

The 4 pot has 350nm torque, the 6 pot has 320nm.

Weird. Is there really a need for a 530i? I can't see how this can go alongside the 523i and 528i. Especially if it's less powerful than the 528i

The reason you are having trouble selling yours Paras is probably because its one of the very first ones with the older iDrive (I dont mean it doesnt have HDD iDrive, it has the version thats even older than that without shortcut buttons etc) and it's pre Efficient Dynamics thus in the top tax bracket. It's also a year older and doesn't have the BMW warranty.

The warranty is absolutely essential on these and becomes quite expensive after 60k miles.

I agree with you on the ED thing however I honestly think 90% of the people looking for a used BMW dont even know about the change in the IDrive. Its a December 2006 so quite a late 06 car and only has 30k on the clock so the warranty is quite cheap.

I dont think I would pay a 5k premium to save a few quid on the tax.

So do you like your new car?
