energy prices rise on the way.

Shame you'd have to live in Arbury to benefit really :D

The fires from the ***** camp should be enough to keep everyone warm :D

That developement is one of the worst looking I have ever seen. The houses there, geothermal heating or not should be 5p each.

why,am i not allowed a rant:rolleyes:

You're allowed but don't you think its a little tired to still be moaning about someone who hasn't touched power for nearly 20 years?! There have been plenty of opportunities to turn things around since by parties of both (and of course now all 3) colours, but have they done anything? Nope.

This thread reads like some kind of hysterical mothers meeting... Usual suspects as well...

Either way the Oil and Gas companies aren't making that large a percentage profit (especially with the risks involved), the energy (consumer) companies aren't making a large percentage profit either... Unfortunately the cost of gas and oil is rising because of the increase in usage...

Shale gas is a good idea, with some shaky (mostly unfounded) claims that it has a large environmental impact and people complaining when there is a tiny earthquake (and they were tiny)... But then fracturing rock without tiny earthquakes is pretty much impossible...

I am alarmed that people are shocked at rising prices, we are using up finite natural resources, prices are only going to get worse.

I am actually astonished with people's reactions to this like they never expected it to happen. Now if this was a foreign country they would be flying on to the street and protesting hard but no not here people just continue to moan thats as far as it gets so they just keep doing it.Now ofgem work for them actual companies so there paid to make it look like there doing something when in fact there not doing anything its a smoke screen to make you sit back and go ok there going to do something(but people still dont get it)the goverment cant do a thing because the goverment dont run the country its the bankers and the massive corporations and before you jump up and go thats all conspiracy rubbish well you need to do your research its not conspiracy its fact, there is no labour & no libdem ie no left and right because when you vote your voting for the exact non changes to happen and they play against eachother to make it look like one of them can save the country when there job is to serve an agenda set by individuals that control them thats why the uk is being squeezed at every corner and people getting poorer why the rich get richer and its obvious to see because the banks do what they want and do you see the goverment regulating them they might say oh we are putting on a 2 billion tax on them but in hindsight do you realise they raise the tax from us and they never lose anything and i think the british public need to really wake up to whats really going on because everyone is being raped by the goverment the bankers and the shadow cronies over and over and over again. Also to say they are making hardly any profit is a complete joke if i ever heard one, they regulate themselves they can say what they want to say and put out what they want you to see and hear.

well confused.com hasnt helped me much, i enter my usage, its correct thereabouts to what im currently paying, shows me savings of about £400 but when I look at the actual unit prices there the same if not worse than my current suppliers new prices (scottish power)

i told the wife to get some wolly jumpers but that didnt go down too well :D

Either way just fixed with edf, £120 cheaper a year for same amount of gas/electric and fixed until sep 2012.

I did exactly the same thing the other week.

The bit that really hacked me off with Scottish Power's price rise was the standing charge going up by about 60odd%. It was going from about 15p per day to 26p, which means an extra £40 per year just for the connection.

That was enough to get me to switch.

True, but it's in the energy companies' interests to get their renewable energy acts together, otherwise they'll all be screwed when fossil fuels truly become non-viable.

I think I'll be following Castiel's example in a few years time and buying a load of solar panels for the roof.

I take it you have not watched 'gas land' then?

no way they could havea stepped increase?

like had 10% now and extra 8% a quarter later? :P

18% seems like big hike

What i hate is trying to find an alternative.

How bloody complex does it need to be ffs!

"Our gas costs X/p per unit, our electricity costs Y/p per unit" ? How difficult is that?

Yet one of the biggest obstacles to renewable energy is the green brigade.

Read this yesterday, I imagine all the other greedy power companies will follow suit anyway so it won't matter who you're with :(

If they all end up doing it then it isn't greed its an increase in wholesale prices.

If one supplier is taking the mickey then you can switch to another - its a competitive market.
