Ive had a few beers but I hope this makes sense :)

Are games today to big and too many? it feels like there's never enough time In the day and that's not helped by games been so addictive and immersive. Does any one else feel games are just too cheap/ numerous/ enjoyable these days? I wouldn't say I spend too much time on games but I still wonder if im missing anything by investing the number of hours I do into gaming especially with games like fallout etc. Achievement points don't really help matters either as they extend games like past what we would normally play them in some cases adding tens of hours on. It's a lot different to the Megadrive days that's for sure!!

If you enjoy playing them then don't worry how much time you spend doing so. As long as you aren't neglecting your family, friends or health then play games if it makes you feel happy. :)

If I get into a game, I'll spend most of the day on it until it's finished. This happens rarely though. Think the last one was New Vegas.

Don't see a problem with doing something you enjoy that harms nobody else.

I'm getting bored of games really, but that's down to pretty much every game being a sequel and developers dumbing things down and 'fixing' stuff that isn't broken. I spend time gaming because there really isn't much else to do.

What I'm really after is a brand new game that blows me away much like GTA 3 did the first time I played it, but that's not likely to happen since they have figured out that they can just throw out the same stuff every year and people will lap it up.

I work to the point I hurt, 5 Days a week.

If I'm enjoying what I do in my spare time, I'll do it. regardless of what it is. I'll play the games regardless of length

Drink, Movies, Gaming, Girls. I'll take all 4 with Chocolate ice cream please.

Unless your rich there's no way you can buy every game new. Also it's impossible to deny how many games are released per year/month/week compared to previous generations and how substantial each game requires investment wise.

What I would say is if games require a substantial amount of time invested into them then you should be able to afford to buy them new if you only buy one or two at a time and then play them to completion.

Personally I can't sink tens of hours into achievement hunting even in a game I really enjoy but I will play until I feel I've completed it. Take assassins creed 2 as an example. I didn't feel that collecting all 100 feathers was necessary from a story standpoint but upgrading the villa completely was beneficial to it so I spent the extra time doing that whilst I could have just blitzed through the story in far less time.

I find these days I invest quite a bit of time into games and usually within a week or two the next big game is out. Obviously its my own fault and I wouldn't buy them if I didn't want to play them but sometimes I do wonder about the value of spending so much time staring at a screen. There always seems to be something else new and exciting to play epecially if your into quite a few genres. I don't think anyone that has played all the main 360 games say can balance a healthy social life as well? (Unless they only dabble in each release of course).

Yeah I agree with this also the ones that require multiple play throughs. There is a certain psycological element though to beating your friends gamerscore if they have the same game however that may lead me to do some achivements I perhaps wouldn't have done naturally.

I think achievements on DA:O are nice because they sort of entice you to try different things through different playthroughs, lengthening the game substantially. Still didn't enjoy siding with the Werewolves though, I want my elfroot :(

I only played the first Assassin's Creed but the achievements like collecting all the flags and going to all the eagle point things did not make me want to spent tens of hours doing menial tasks at all.

Now gaming is main stream there is definately a lot if not too much to play, especially if you try for all the achivements. Thats why I only try to play the actually decent games these days and avoid the rubbish ones I used to play when I was an achievement whore.

Games are defiantely cheaper considering we pay the same as we did nearly 15 years ago when the moblie phone was the size of a house brick! Not to mention the fact that games prices generally drop a lot faster (especially in the case of games that turn out to be dissapoinments such as Brink and Duke nukem). Older games priced at £5-£10 6 months after launch are also very tempting!

i rarely hit a game which i'd be addicted to, SP-wise i mean, mass effect & dead space series were one of them, mirrors edge, alan wake, also very addictive, few more cant name, just dont remember, thing is, once u beat them once, they start collectin dust, becouse on 1st run i try to do and collect everything on hardest difficulty possible, what ****es me off in games is, if u dont beat the game on normal, hard is not gonna unlock
