Been stressing over this one and poring over prad/tftcentral for far too many hours. My needs are simple - I'm an ardent FPS gamer (and motion blur bugs me), but also need reasonable colour accuracy for hobby photo editing (I have a hardware calibrator).

As far as I can tell U2311H (eIPS) has decent pixel response (6-8ms) but there is still a reasonable amount of blur/lag in fast FPS games. Obv it has fantastic colour accuracy. Negligible input lag.
vs
LG W2363D (TN) great value for 120hz, 2-3ms response and no input lag at all, but worse colour accuracy. After calibration I've read that it's passable, but real world user experience would be good to hear :).

Especially keen to hear opinions about experiences of response time in the U2311H as that's where I'm leaning at the moment. The ~8-10ms lag on my Hazro 26wi and the resulting motion blur bugs me so not sure how much of an improvement the Dell will be.

Two ends of the spectrum here. The Dell's eIPS panel is far superior to the TN panel in the LG, so the Dell would be far superior for photo editing etc. Having said that, the LG has 0 Input Lag and 120hz as you say.

I've got the LG and it's great for FPS gaming. Everything feels more fluid and responsive than my NEC 24WMGX3, but the NEC's image quality is in a different league. If you're more into gaming than photo editing get the LG. Otherwise, get the Dell :)

I'm kinda having the same problem but I've almost completely decided on the LG as for me either one will have better colour than my current monitor and sharper images plus the 3D is a bonus :)

Tempting - would be fantastic playing without any blurriness at all. Anyone with FPS experience on an U2311H?

Played quite a bit of BFBC2 since i recieved my U2311 and I've got to say its performed very well. The colours are a noticable improvement over my old glossy TN panel. I'm sure you've probably seen TFT central's review, which shows low input lag and good pixel resonsiveness. I personally agree with this!

I just need to know if the LG supports Thru Mode on HDMI connection or not, before I buyt it, SOMEONE PELASE CONFIRM THIS FOR ME!! ;_;

Can't find anything on this either :(.

Just had a blast on mate's Acer GD245HQ. 120Hz with no ghosting at all is quite some experience...Going to try calibrating it next time I'm over and seeing how that turns out.

I've played several FPSs on the Dell, and I really can't say I've noticed any blurring :) Just come from a 2ms samsung, and I can't tell the difference when this one is supposedly 8ms

I've noticed no blurring or lag in any games at all. In BBFC2 and Borderlands and so on. With the Dell U2311h and they look really good.

The differences with monitors on the lag frames side is in my opinion negligable, a few milliseconds here or there you will not notice unless you do laboratory tests.

Colours differences however you will notice.

There is a real and palpable difference in colour quality, absolutely. The same also applies to the level of fluidity of motion. This is something not everyone is equally as sensitive to but it is a significant difference between these two monitors that some people will notice. At a high enough frame rate it is something that the vast majority of people who play FPS games will notice; whether they play competitively or not. That isn't to say the people who notice will be 'bothered' by it though. The pixel response times of IPS monitors such as the U2311H are simply not as fast as 120Hz TN panel monitors in practice and if you ever asked yourself why we don't have 'real' 120Hz IPS monitors - there's your answer.

If you, OP, haven't read our review covering the subjective game experiences of the smaller U2211H you should do so as it may assist your decision. Or indeed hamper it further! :p It isn't as detailed as the subjective and objective analysis in our newer reviews, and for that I appologise - but the difference in visible fluidity if you are able to run your games at 100fps+ is significant. Even at around 60fps or less the differences are there for the keen eye to see but are far less pronounced. If your games run around this 60fps frame rate the decision should be quite easy. I suppose you have to compromise on something along the way given your 'dual' use of FPS gaming and photo editing. I would be inclined to opt for the U2311H if I was in your position as I would be happy enough to game on it whereas I wouldn't be happy editing photos as a hobbiest on the LG.

Making my decision this weekend cos this is bugging the hell out of me. Basically, the Dell is superior for the colour reproduction but is it really worth the £50+ over the LG which will outperform the Dell for gaming? Just thinking about Starcraft 2 and WOW here, possibly the Old Republic when it's out.

Hi guys would appreciate some help also

im torn between these two monitors in question

my primary use is watching blu-rays and some light photoshopping + web designing, with some casual ps3/xbox gaming also

which is the better choice?

The Dell but note that it does not have speakers.
