Battery life terrible after updates

I've got quite used to my Desire Z lasting around 24 hours after a full charge.
The other day I noticed a pop up on the phone telling me that many of my apps had an update available so I went ahead and updated them all.

For some reason now my battery, under similar usage, won't last more than half a day without needing to be charged.

Any ideas how I can pinpoint the problem and solve it?

What apps were updated, identify ones which look like they may cause issues or could impact the battery by running in the background.

Look at what has been draining your battery in Settings > About Phone > Battery Usage, etc.

Thanks. I updated a lot of apps at the time some of which I remember but I don't think there were any that run in the background apart from Beautful Widgets so possibly that's the cause. I've also looked at the battery usage and the main drain is 'Display' at 49%. Is that a bit high?

Nope display should be high on that list. What % is Android OS?

Android System is 6%. I've lowered the screen timeout just now from 30 to 15 seconds. Hopefully that should make some difference.
