Kung-fu movies

Anyone any good recommendations for any classic kung-fu movies? Recently watched the Jackie Chan classics Dunken Master and Young Master and in the mood for some more. Definately liking the Jackie Chan stuff so anything with a few laughs thrown in would be good, I prefer subtitles to dubbing but if it's really well dubbed is ok.

IP Man 1 + 2.

Ip man is the best martial arts movie of the last couple of years. Ip Man 2 was no where near as good, but its still definitely worth watching.

I didnt think Ip man was very good, any of them. The action is ok, but just the actor Donnie Yuen or whatever his name is doesnt fit the character, he's like a guy that wears suits all the time and never gets dirty, and he's serious and totally bad ass. Its in no way believeable.

Anything by stephen chow if u want comedy kung fu films.

Like From bejing with love, God of cookery, Royal tramp 1 &2, King of beggars, Shaolin Soccer, a few others that i cant see the case off but you get the general idea.

Both Ip Man films are great if you just want to enjoy the action, but otherwise, the historical accuracy is just ridiculous, especially for the second film which was just plain stupid.

Then again, it's no different to the bajillion Wong Fei Hung films.

Too many good martial art films to name, Bruce lee and Jackie Chan and jet li and Tony jaar rule the roost, actually just found out Tony jaar has left the temple from being a monk and has already been snapped up by a film company, there going to make Tom-Yum-Goong 2 aka The Protector 2, check out Protector 1 definatly one of his best films.

Chocolate 2 is also going to be made :)

Pedicab driver is another good one,
film ain't great and theres only really two fight scene but both are awesome
samo hung at his best.

he's not actually been snapped up by another company tony jaa when he made ong bak 2 he thought he could do it all himself write, direct, produce etc and he got rid of the original writers and directors and needless to say the film flopped and so he went back with his tail between his legs and now he's back working with the same crew and that will be a lesson for him you cant do anything on your own.

That would just depend on how badly you want to see the films its a double bill not a single one we are showing,if your up the area one time check it out we got coming after the first month is,crystal fist, crazy horse intelligent monkey, shaolin invincible sticks, sun dragon, eagles claws, heroes of shaolin, the eagles killer, the golden mask, fatal needles fatal fists, shaolin red master and many others.

I'd love to see some of the films properly at the cinema but Leicester is a bit far away for me just to see a film so unless I happen to be up that way for another reason I'm afraid I'll have to give it a miss.

Nice so its the same team, I dont know why he thought he could do everything himself and then he went and became a monk to find peace I guess!

Have you heard anything new from Shaw Brothers, I heard they were coming back ?

reminds me Five Deadly Venoms, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, think there was a prequel or sequel also Return to 36th chamber of shaolin but 1st was better.

I think it was arrogance on tony jaa's part the fame must have just went to his head but hopefully he learns this lesson but he's got a lot to live up to and he would fair better if he learnt to speak english and got his ears pinned back(a hollywood thing)because he's got all the skills. If shawbrothers are set to rise up again look to china thats where it will happen and i know seasonal films operate out there in china.I like the 36th chambers but i actually prefer the return to the 3th chambers and there was talk about a remake of 5 deadly venoms but i would prefer they leave it alone. Some of the shaws titles i like are, spearman of death, death duel, bloody parrot,my young auntie, tigeress of shaolin, usurpers of a emperors power, decendant of the sun, crippled avengers,5 element ninja and many others.

Strange, the entire Wing Chun community think he was perfect for him.

Wasnt there a scene in Bruce lee my brother film where bruce lee meets ipman but hes an old man and does not teach directly bruce lee but rather he can join the class and get tutored by the tutor instead ?

Somewhat confusing I guess the scene towards the end of ipman film showing a small child bruce lee asking for training was just for show ?

I actually liked ipman 1 and 2, think there was a 3rd one but it was a prequel to the 1st two but it didnt have donnie yen.... which was a good film also.

Good too have had a nice batch of martial art films lately but we still need more :)
