HDMI Audio to 1/8" Jack?

Hi,

I've been trying to run my xbox through my monitor using HDMI. The video works fine but obviously the HDMI also has the audio on it. I can't hook speakers up to my monitor so I was wondering whether there was any device that could take the HDMI input and output video to HDMI and sound to a standard 1/8" jack?

I did a bit of googling and found some long ass thing about getting various splitters but I'm really looking for a single device to do it for me.

Can't you just use the normal AV cable in addition to the HDMI cable? I know with the PS3 you can output video over HDMI while simultaneously outputting sound over composite, not sure about the 360 though.

Nope sadly not, as far as I know. Perhaps I'll test that tomorrow actually

You need one of these:

It's an 'audio cable' I use it to get audio as my xbox is connected via HDMI to DVI cable.

Yep. I have one because my XBox is hooked up to a headphone amp as well as the TV.

did you try using the av cable ? i was sure it worked on 360 too

Yea the standard av cable does work, I use it to get optical sound but picture via HDMI....the problem is you have to pretty much break the casing on the AV cable to get it to fit in as well as the HDMI, oh well it works
