Everything hacked. How can this happen?

Hi guys,

Went to sign into my Hotmail account this morning to find that the password had been changed.

o'really?

I managed to recover the account and my mate said that some one was online at 6am in the morning asking him over and over what my fave sports team was.

What is your fav football team and what is your email address?

I'm not sure how some one could have accessed my hotmail account, I wasn't aware of any viruses but then again I don't have an AV.

How could this have happened? :s
